The tribe just got back from the best hunt we ever had at Wild Things! We've been doing this for a long time and never had a week of action like this. Charlie is the reason. He's got things set up to create opportunities at every stand and blind.
Five guys hunted five days, three of us only three days. We saw a total of 353 hogs, four kills, five shots missed the mark. Just incredible results considering some previous years when you couldn't buy a hog. All shots were from stands or blinds but some came awfully close while stalking too.
Our weather was cool and windy at first. Morning hunts in the twenties punished those who forgot their long johns. By Saturday it was 70's and sunny! The sun felt good while we shot ant hills and looked for arrow heads in the Dove Field.
We sure missed Andrew though. I spent a quiet walk in the swamp thinking of my friend. I'm sure he was smiling to see us having fun in his camp.
Don ran the kitchen and whipped up some fantastic meals! Charlie took care of the hunting. Everything went smoothly.
Awesome week!

Pics are not in my skill set. In fact, I just realized I didn't take a group photo. Crap!

I was fortunate enough to get three shots at hogs. The first was just at dark on a 130lb sow and a 40 yard recovery, and the second was a 85lb sow with a 25 yard recovery. The third shot was the last day and did not end well. The 40ish pound hog turned and I hit too far forward. I followed my tracker string roughly 300 yards until I found it frayed and broken. I blood trailed another 100 or so until I could not find blood after its second water crossing. Not how I wanted to end the week.
I had a great time, seeing over 70 hogs. Charlie, once again was very helpful and I truly enjoyed spending time. The food was very good and Don's stories surely add to the experience.

Rick, one nice change you guys will enjoy is the addition of a breakfast table in the bunkhouse. Coffee pot, toaster, cereal, fruit, etc is there to help get you up and out in the mornings.
We came in for a 11:00 brunch, then supper at 8:00. It really worked well. Not sure how it will be run since the time change.
Thom was in camp Saturday night and heard all our stories. I'm sure he's got a plan in mind for the hunt.
One of our guys brought several trail cameras and set them at stands. That was very helpful and directed us to favored spots. The camera at Sam Rice caught hogs feeding at 9:00AM while we tracked only 75yd away! We couldn't understand where all the corn went until we checked the camera.
Listen to Charlie, he knows the hogs and how to hunt them.
