So first things first. Hello to everyone here. I just joined the forum.
However! I have been lurking here fo probably over 4 years. That may sound creepy if I were knocking on your door to tell you this, but I hope that it comes off as a compliment right now on this forum. What I mean is that for over 4 years, this forum has answered almost every question I have had as a new Archer and traditional archer. And if the answer wasn't here, there was a post I found that pointed me to someone or somewhere that had the answer for me. All of this without even having to ask.
I hope that says a lot. When I decided to get into archery, traditional equipment drew me in. Scouring the internet, I found this forum l, and got started with the obsession.
So in a nutshell, thank you all so very much for everything you have done for me, for this sport, and for every new Archer out there by looking for a little light in this stick bow darkness!
Oh and this is only from me. My wife would probably rather slap you...hah!
So anyway. Im happy to finally join the forum and I hope to be here for a while. Maybe one day, I can pay this forum back by adding something of my own.
Sorry for the long post!
God bless you all, Happy New Year, and happy shooting!

Thanks Kip. Oh yah I'm right down the road in Opelousas. Grew up in Carencro.
Let me ask you, there any place nearby to shoot? I know they used to have a 3d range in Opelousas years ago, but I don't know/ don't think it's still around.

Nice introduction there EA, and welcome.
The freely shared vast knowledge base, the fun and the respect, both for the game and the people, are why I hang out here. Thanks to Terry and the other Mods.
Hope you enjoy.
Again, welcome.
Best
Lex

Welcome!

Welcome! Don't worry, my wife is not an archery fan either, but she knows how much I love it, so she is very tolerant. I'm sure your wife probably will be, too. If she shows any interest at all, keep a low powered bow on hand so she can join in the fun. You just may develop a lifelong shooting buddy.

You know, my wife used to shoot as a kid and I'll put on the 30lb limbs for her every now and then.
She does enjoy it....just not as much as me! Haha it's almost like a love affair.
I already told her I'm going to get her one day. I just need to get her a rig.
Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome

Matt....an archer from the past.. Chet Stevenson of ( i believe) Oregon / Washington used to hunt with a man with your last name. Is it a common name or might there be kin in the NW ? Chet was a writer and very active archer / bowhunter in the early 1900s.
And welcome....
-
Hey Chuck. It's a Cajun French name. Northwest would be an odd place to have that name as we were a people of Nova Scotia, then eastern and southern states after British exile. But if I had to guess, we would probably be kin to this guy if we went back enough. judging the location, he probably had family in Canada

Matt
Welcome to traditional archery and to the best site I have found to learn from folks who are gracious enough to share their knowledge. I second your thanks to everyone who has helped me and any other archer that has embarked on this journey. It can be a frustrating and difficult road at times without helpful folks like yourselves to give guidance and encouragement.
