My first kill with trad equipment. I wish I could say it was a complete success this hunt I was on, but I can not.It started out with a bad shot on a doe. She was 15 or so yards away and broadside to boot. I was facing my tree stand when she came in. after I shot I felt my bow I don't know how to describe it pull out of my hand sort of. The only thing I can think of is I may have hit my stand seat with my quiver as I shot. No exscuses though it was a bad shot .the next day was a sunday me and two other guys went looking and found her in her bed,she took off like a rocket. After the shot I could see the arrow sticking with only 6 " in the deer just in front of the back leg. Man I do not know what to say. I sow the deer the forth day no arrow but not using the back leg ,man I wish she would have came in closer so I could have made it right. I got down and went after her but without seeing her again.
I had another shot opportunity but was afraid to shoot. On the last day of the hunt I went in to a spot I had saw a buck two or three time in the week. 45 min before dark some does past 40 yards or so just above me a mommy and 3 little ones. While watching the does I could here a deer coming below me. Just 40 yards and closing was the buck in the picture. He past within 22 or 25 yards. Congrats on a fine deer....that double white throat patch will make a beutiful mount....
A beautiful buck. Congrats!
If the doe you hit took off quickly the next day,
I would bet that she has more to fear from firearm season than your arrow wound. Things happen. The important thing is you made an attempt. We all strive for perfection, even though we KNOW we will never achieve it.
As for the buck...awesome. Great photo.
Congratulations! Enjoy.
Congrats on a fine buck.
Thanks guys for all the support.I try to convince myself I haven't wounded a deer in over 20 years.some day it was going to happen and it did .It doesn't make it right and I work hard so this will not happen.
