In playing around with some cutthroats. They are all nice a shiny and ready to go thanks to a KME. But the tanto tips are just mediocre.
How do you guys go about sharpening the tips?
I've just been freehanding them on a stone. They can just barely bite into a fingernail. But the awkward angles make it hard to get it any sharper.
I'm about to go through some grizzlys and Kodiaks too.
I'm liking these cutthroats though!. Pretty easy to get polished up. And ghey are shooting great.
I freehand with a stone or file as well. Wouldn't worry about it much. They'll punch through thin skinned game like deer quite easily.
Yeah. Not too worried about the deer. 55 lb bow with 630 grain arrow should zip right through. But it's my nilgai hunt and all the hogs I'm semi concerned about.
if you are using the KME
knife sharpener you can hit the tanto easily
Can't help you. I was always taught to have a pointy broadhead and one that wouldn't 'tent' on impact and rob me of energy. Deer are no big deal, but I want all the initial penetration I can get on hogs.
Best of luck though!!!
