Title: Cabela's SST arrow nocks
Post by: jchunt4ever on January 26, 2007, 05:29:00 PM
I have several Cabela's SST, small diameter, carbon arrows left over from my compound days and was wanting to try them with with my trad equip. However, I only have a couple of nocks. I used to use the old Beman excert type nocks, but they didn't seem to hold up very well and I can't find anymore. I was wondering if anybody here uses these arrows and if so what type of nocks do you use? I would like something that fits inside the shaft, but really don't want to have to glue them in or on so I can easily remove them for tuning purposes (the excert point adapters are all permanently attached with JBweld).

The only nocks I know of are the ones made by AAE. They glue onto the outside of the arrow. Check out Cabelas website. You'll find them there with the Carbon Maverick shafts, I think...

I looked on the Cabelas website and didn't see any nocks listed for the SST arrows, but if I remember correctly the nocks you are talking about were just like the Beman nocks. As for the size of my arrows, I think they are 230, but I will have to look when I get home tonight and confirm.

BenBow, what type/brand of nocks do you have? If I could just get some idea of what types will work, I will scour the internet and find some.

I seen some SST on ebay that seemed to indicate they are made by Easton, does anyone know if this is true? If so, what was the Easton branded arrow of the same type called? Maybe that would make it a little easier to find components.

Read in the cabelas archery catalog. They sell nocks for the SST  they come in packs of 25. They fit over the shaft not into it, I have shot them for several years now and have not had any problems with them.
They come sized 220, 230 , or 240   Steve

SST's were not made by Easton, they were made by a fairly small sompany called CAE, (Custom Archery Equipment), made in the USA too.

I'm not sure if they're still around or not, Cabelas has been phasing them out for a while now.

Here's an old e-mail address for them, not sure if it's still good or not either.

[email protected]

Cabelas still has some components I believe, if you dig a little, I'd give them a call first.

SlowBow, thanks for that info. I did a little Googleing and found that CAE is now called "OUST Composites", and there listed email is different from the one you gave. I will send them a note see what they have or know. By the way, they have a website,  www.customarchery.com. (http://www.customarchery.com.)

I guess I just may have to go with the nocks that fit over the shaft, and hopefully Cabela's still has some. I was really hoping that something like an "Easton X nock" would fit these.

Thanks for everyones' help.

Cableas has the nocks, they are the Arizona HT nocks.
Re the phasing out, guess I should contact Cabelas to see if they are phasing out as I really like the SST arrows.  Just purchased a dozen 230s last week.  Last year bought 220s & 230s.
