Just curious who builds his own stand (portable) and if you have any pics.  Thanks.

I used to when I was single. But my life changed, and TIME was more important spent with family, and I got lazier and bought stands. Still have a bunch of platforms already cut out, and aluminum to make several more. I used a design resembling the old "Loc On" stands

Cool.  I want to make a bunch that resemble the Climax stand, so that it will fit in crooked trees that we have here in South Dakota.  Even Lone Wolf are not capable of getting into some of these spots.

Killed both of my deer out of a proto type stand I'm working on.  No pictures yet, but there may be some in the future.

Heres a pic of one chain on we made a bunch of for $18.00 apiece. Weighs 24# so we don't pack em cept with the pickup, but don't worry much about theft. Tested to 1100 #(bout 6" off ground)

The good thing is they are more comfy and quieter than any we've bought. We use em on private land and pack storebought on public.

Its got a sling seat that we carry in a pocket .

I've never hunted out of a store bought stand, all are home made and could probably hold a small elephant.  Don't have any pictures but they are a single rung ladder made from 1.5" square tubing with 5/8" steps and the stand is 3/4" with a stud on the bottom corner that slides into the top of the ladder rung and everything is strapped to the tree.  All the material was scrounged from the dumpsters when I worked construction.

I haven't used one for two years now because I enjoy ground hunting so much.  My nephews use them now.
