Has anyone used DOE-IN-HEAT (what ever brand) yet this season? Mainly in the NorthEast (NJ, PA or NY area).....
Not yet I will in another three or four days. I just watched a little buck chase does in my back yard.
I've seen bucks chasing does around my house for a good week all ready.
I read somewhere that the rut is supposed to be early this year in the Northeast, author claims it will end by next Monday. I have been off since Tuesday and still have next week off too. I have been using doe in heat (Tinks 69) and the synthetic rut formula (Buck fever, formerly Hawgs limited) since Wednesday and have pulled in 1-3 bucks every time I have been out. Up until today they have all been young ones or 1 with a half rack but all have been chasing does. I've been holding out for a good one. This evening I had a "huge" ten point come in to the Tinks that was
under a Redi Doe in a field. I was on the ground
in a blind I had made a couple of hours earlier. He never gave me a shot but he was all rutted up, his neck was swelled and he was drooling and grunting like crazy. He kept walking away and then coming back, which lasted several minutes and eventually worked his way off. I grabbed my bleat can and turned it over twice and then grabbed a grunt tube and hit it twice. Next thing I know I hear a deer coming in from the opposite direction and it was...
Nope, a small fork horn. He gave me several shot
opportunities but I passed and he too eventually walked off. Sal I live and hunt in Hunterdon Co. and the rut seems to have started hear. I hear that in Iowa they've been rutting too, FYI.
On my way to work this morning, I saw a doe walking in a field, being escorted by three
bucks.
She was going to be in season soon if she was attracting that much attention.
the only stuff i've personally ever seen work was Code Blue.2 years ago i had a little 7 pointer actually stop and turn around and come back and bury his nose in some code blue in a canister i had out.i've never seen a deer actually come to anything else.not saying they won't,i've just never seen it.
In michigan there chasing does hard right now i was up there last week and missed a nice 8 point the day i was leaving my grnafather told me he saw a huge ten runing a doe back and forth in a hay field right behind his house that he hasn't seen before. I would think your area should be experiencing alot of the same action.
Bucks are running does HARD right now in northern indiana too. Been watching little guys for the past 14 days chasing, but the last couple of days the BIG boys have been out getting dumb too. My dad watched a monster 10 to night and this morning I watched an 8 for about an hour while he was gruntin' and chase the girls. Going to be good this week. dino
I have to agree the big boys are getting dumb but I guess i'm dumber 'cause i've been in the wrong spot 3 days in a row now with no shot opportunities. The rut is on in my part of Jersey.
Tonight was the first time I have used anything this year. I was told that the bucks have been chasing, so I thought I would give it a try. Had a buck come in at 3:15,I had only been in the stand for 10 minutes. I was using Wildlife Research Special Golden Estrus. I also had 2 more bucks come in tonight. The only problem was none of them were legal. In my part of PA they have to have 4 points on one side. :banghead:

well I used a buck bomb to lay down a trail, and before sunlight I think I heard something moving around but couldn't tell. I did see a deer about 20 yards from my ground blind, but again it was to dark to make a shot... I'll be going back out later... since I'm on blood thinners I need to warm up some... Time to get some wool clothes to hunt in....
My son-in-law and I dragged ragged this morning, no luck but it is about time to start using it. I use it only a few times a year. Near Albany NY where i hunt the bucks are just starting to open scrapes. They are starting to seek and should be chasing in a week or so, the actual breeding(rut) will ne in about 2 weeks. I like the seek/chase phase the best as there are lots of bucks looking for a hot doe and a drag rag works great than. Shawn
well the wind was blowing and I didn't see anything... there is always Monday after work & allday Wednesday.
