Title: Recurve bow advice
Post by: dinorocks on November 02, 2007, 02:48:00 PM
A friend of has recently become addicted to shooting my recurves.  He is in the market for his own bow...does anyone have any pros/cons they can share regarding the following two recurves...

Bear Super Kodiak (60" 50#)
Martin Hunter (60" 50#)

Any other suggestions of a similar bow would also be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Dino

Either one. Both tried and true.

I think the Bear Super Kodiak is smoother to shoot.

Old or new?

I am biased towards '70's Super K's.

I love Martin grips though.

I have a newer 55# Super Kodiak that is my go-to bow. I have all the confidence in the world with this bow. I did notice that after shooting my brother-in -laws 50# Super Kodiak that I really like my heavier bow more. I don't know it just seems that I get a "crisper" release with the 55#er. On the note about Martin, I had a 50# Martin Nighthawk that I STUPIDLY sold on E-bay, It was the best shooting bow I owned. I have yet to find a bow with that fine a grip for me, I wish I could find another Nighthawk. I look constantly but none seemed to be available used.

Martin is a great bow.  Just make sure the actual weight is close tho the marked weight.  I had one, and it was WAY off.
