Has anyone else done this?
Last year while tuning arrows to a new bow inside my shop, I was having trouble seeing the arrow all the way to the target.
So I had the bright idea of using the slo mo video on my IPhone.
Taped it to a tripod and shot over the top of it.
It worked really well, and was very helpful in that last little bit of trying to get it perfect.
i also put it off to the side about 12 feet in front of the target so I can see how it's flying nock high or low to fine tune the nock height.
It's really cool to watch the arrow as you start getting it closer and closer to perfect and finally it is just a thing of beauty to watch it frame by frame swim in a beautiful straight line right into the target.
I have not used it for tuning but I do use it from time to time while working on my form.
I have iTunes. Is this what we're discussing? :D
Seriously...a good thread and something I have never thought about. Thanks!
Oh...I get it now,iTunes..Tuning.Good one! :biglaugh:
I haven't done this, but it sounds intriguing. Definitely going to try it! Thanks for sharing!
I've done it with a camera. Don't have an I phone.
Good for our using your noggin.
Use it for form and last week used slo mo to watch the shaft straighten out. Woods pretty well. Really good for checking form in a multiple reviewable format
Yes, I've done this. It's really helpful.
Thanks batbow. I just fuggered out that my phone takes slow motion videos.. Duh.. LOL
My phone only does 120 frames per second, it works good, but if you have one of the newer phones many do 240 frames per second.
My wife's phone does 240 but She won't let me shoot over it!
LOL

You can also touch the screen while it's playing and the then touch the slider bar that comes up and slide your finger slowly to see it frame by frame.
The area college has a fancy camera that goes really slow. My neighbor use to be one of the football coaches, they use the camera for sports events, like taking videos of arrows flying and bows shooting.
Yes indeed, had my son do it for me with my tuning. It's a great tool!
I use my tablet and the free app slow motion fx. Allows very slow motion play back that is clear. Mostly used to check form.
Just did it tonight, works great
Works great!

Big fan of this method. If you've got a friend who can tape from over your shoulder, you can break it down frame by frame to see it coming off of the shelf, too. It lines everything up nicely and it's neat to see the arrow headed to the target, too.
My son and his buddy have been tuning that way for a few years, now. They showed me the slow-mo video of the arrow flexing after release and into it's flight. Great idea, but alas, I'm only a flip phone capable person. My loss.
That's my son in the post above mine!
Thanks Batbow, it does indeed do that..
Got one today....
