Sealed the deal this morning on a great gobbler. I had been hunting the edge of some fields with a couple close encounters but not close enough. Moved into the woods on my place and had 1 gobbling on roost. Moved onto the flat and got into a hole made by a huge uprooted tree. When he flew down I made a call and he answered. The next time he gobbled he was closer so I called again and quit. Here he came and when he walked behind a big tree at 10 yards I drew back. As he stepped out from behind the tree I shot and connected. He just ran down over the bank and was done. 24 lb, 91/2 inch beard and 11/4 Spurs. Trying to upload picture. Will add it later.
Sounds like a nice one .
Them big spurs are what they call a limb hanger .

Congrats Don!!! I been a chasing them here in Wood County and missed a jake on Tuesday morning.
Way to "get 'er done"!

1.5" spurs is impressive! Lots of folks get caught up in beard length. That don't mean much to me, I've seen some 2 year old birds with good beard length, but long spurs tell the story. Congrats!!
Wow! Congrats to you!
Sorry DarrinG I put 1 1/2 by mistake, was 1 1/4. Corrected it in original post. Thanks anyway.
Great job! Have called in 5 longbeards in this year. Have not connected as of yet. I am not using pop up blind and you are proof, you don't have to!
Thats awesome! No blind...the way it should be done! Congrats!!
No need to apologize, Donald, 1.25" spurs is nothing to sneeze at either, and any bird taken with traditional bowhunting gear is a trophy. Congrats!!
Sounds Awesome! Congrats!

Great bird! Congrats.
Just wanted to add that I picked up a scratch call at the Kentucky Tradfest from a gentleman named Norm Addington and really liked the sound of it. I always use mouth calls but on this day the scratch call did the trick! Thanks Norm.
Sure is a nice one!!
Well done! Nice bird!!
Nice bird, Congratulations
Congrats on your bird! I wish I could get out there, but selling my house and getting ready to move has taken over my life for the time being!

Nice, congrats!
Very nice. Thanks for sharing!
That is awesome. On my bucket list...maybe one of these days. Those turkeys have to be the toughest animal to harvest with the stick bow...I have hard enough time with a shotgun. :)
