Can you bareshaft tune aluminums? Or is it a different process

You can, I usually paper tune I find it quicker and more convenient.

I shoot bare shafts and watch the arrow flight.
Nock high?  Lower nock point.
Tail left?  Too weak.  Correct accordingly.

Bare shaft tuning works well with aluminum shafts.

There is a YouTube video of Ken Beck from BW tuning alum shafts. Not the one he tunes carbons. He is real, real good at it. In an interview years ago for Traditional Bowhunter he talked of bare shafting out to 70 yards!
