Title: Big WAH!
Post by: Boneyard Bowhunter on November 01, 2007, 12:47:00 PM
I've been shooting a Savannah for two years and I love the bow. I couldn't hunt with it last year because of an injury. This year I found out that I cant make the short shots from a tree stand ( 10 yds and less ) cause the string hits my leg. I have short arms and a short draw. So now I am thinking maybe a 60" or 58" long bow. My question is can I expect the same performance from a 58" or a 60" custom bow. I would like to hear from shooters who own short bows. Make of bow, draw length, type of arrow being used and fps would be a big help.  Thanks! Gradog.

Are you bending forward at the waist when you shoot? (not leaning over to the side but bending from the side forward).

I would think that you wouldn't be hitting your leg if you are bending correctly...but you could be if you are dropping the bow arm to create the angle.

I wish it was just a form problem, it's a short problem. Bending at the waist is one of the things I preach to people who miss when shooting from elevated or low positions. My draw is only 25" and there isn't much string angle. I can cant the bow more but then I get into problems with the limbs not clearing the tree.
