Title: Tarheel State Turkeys
Post by: huskyarcher on April 07, 2017, 02:22:00 PM
Good luck to everyone getting out in the morning! It's supposed to be wicked cold and windy up here on the mountain so Ethan, aaron, and I are headed to hunt a farm in Franklin County supposedly loaded in birds. What's yalls plans? Good luck!

Don't give me a hard time about this but I'm at the beach house - the wife wanted to celebrate my birthday there - it hurts to not be in the woods opening day though - I will be hitting them hard starting Monday though...

Hey Dalton - I live in Franklin county - if you are going to be in that area in the future be sure and let me know so maybe we can meet.....

Hunted Fort Bragg this morning. Large amounts of hunting pressure for the first day. Heard 3 gobbles but by the time I could work that way other hunters were closing in.  Either way it was a great day in the woods covered a little over 7 miles and shot some stumps. Looking forward to tomorrow. Good luck to all tomorrow morning.

Didn't get out this morning, didn't want to risk spooking birds leaving for church. From what I hear though the birds were tearing it up, maybe they'll keep it up this evening!

Great shot. No need for a string tracker with a shot like that. Gobblers were talking this morning before church.

Congrats Bux! Nice bird!!
I worked a bird this morning that hung up on me at about 100 yards at an old fencerow. Easy to cross but he just wouldn't cross. After many double gobbles to my calls, he finally attracted 2 of the real things (hens) and off he went. Next time!

You boys will have to go get'em without me...after I shot the barefoot trad archers tourney in March my bow arm rotator cuff went out on me - took a 2 week break and still couldn't pull my bow back. Went to the orthopedic Monday and he gave me a cortisone shot. Might be able to salvage the last week of the season if the shot works....I'm about to go crazy cause I can't shoot....Never had anything like this happen in over 40 years of bow shooting...Hope ya'll have a good season and take care of them shoulders...

Way to get it done, Bux!

So far all I'm doing is looking at toms on the other side of a fence.
