Looks to spool out easily...I would be concerned for my camper with a guy with a small bow casting an arrow that far.  What weight line was he using?

Why two line weights?  When would you use one over the other?

I can't imagine turkey hunting without a string tracker, and Chad's tracker unit makes it stylish as well!!!!!

Oh its just a matter of what you think you need some guys like the 30 lbs for brushy areas with real  abrasive bark etc. I do like the way the 30 comes off the spool too. The 17 lbs you get almost twice as much line which is real nice.

Chad,
I have one of your string trackers and the 17 lb. spool.  I've killed two turkeys with it that were very close and didn't go far.  There has probably been 200 yards or more pulled out of the spool but it still feels tacky.  It has enough resistance that I would not shoot it at an animal farther than 5 or maybe 10 yards because of the drag on the arrow.  Not sure if it is just this spool or not.  I assumed the 30 lb. line would be worse yet but was interested when you said you liked the way the 30 lb. line comes off.  Does it come off the spool easier?  If so I'll order one and give the 30 lb. a try.

Thanks Chad.  I did order the string tracker and 30# earlier today after some research.  Looking forward to playing around with it before my turkey season starts.

Gary,
The spool should be shot out i the middle. Here is what I do.
1. Pull out by hand 5-10 arm lengths
2. Take a shot or two at 10-20 yards with 17 lbs (1 only with the 30 lbs)
3. Done the middle of the spool should have a gap a little bigger then a straw.

I have shot deer and turkey out to 22 yards with mine with no ill effect. I have shot on the range out to 40 yards. The 30 lbs is larger diameter so it comes off the spool easier.

Happy Hunting stop by and lets do some shooting Gary. We could get the kayaks out for the Hendrickson hatch in a couple weeks too!

Ok Chad, thanks for the tips.  I can't remember for sure but I think this spool may have got wet one time when I got caught in the rain and then dried out.  Have you had any experience with the spools once they get wet?  Seems the first spool of 17 lb. I had came out easier.  I'm going to order a spool of the 30 and give that a try anyway.
I'll be in touch with you soon for shooting the 3d course in Hesperia and maybe we can get out on the PM again before turkey season.  I bought a safety flag for my yak so I'm ready for the big lake too!

Need to make some up, probably a month out though. I'm trying to launch a new larger scale project and it's been taking a ton of time and resources.

Yes sir loads of guys do it me included just depends on the bow the best place to put it. Most of the time I run it on the opposite side of the bow just above the shooting window or just below the grip. Works great for me

Chad,

How do you connect the string to wood arrows? Is there an adapter for that?

1. If there is any taper left behind the broadhead tie a couple half hitches on the taper.

2. File a small notch (violate one ring) and cinch up a couple half hitches on it or a cinch knot.

3. Single wrap of electrical tape and tie on it right behind the broadhead.

4. Stick on velcro thin strip right behind the broad head and tie on it the hook or loop side works. I like the loop side.

So your tying the tracker line directly over the velcro instead of in front of the velcro and behind the broad head, right?
