I was just wonder in yall think I would be ok. With penetration on whitetail shooting the Simmons Tiger Shark. My bow is a cut to center recurve. 48# @28. I pull about 27 so 45# about. My arrow will be about 550 grains. Most of the weight is up front. 100g brass insert into a GT 500 Hunter Pro. I will be getting the 135g simmons glue on and putting 100g insert in it also. Or should I just stick with my zwickey no mercey. I just really like the looks of the Simmons.
I've killed 3 deer so far using the 175 grain Tigersharks howbeit with a 54-56# at 29+ draw when all the way anchored.
It's a fantastic head and you will be fine with it!
Jeff, you will digging them sharks out the ground when they blow through them deer! Seriously awesome head.
Thanks Guys. I'm looking forward to putting them through some deer. Maybe a turkey this spring.
Awesome head can say enough good about em you will be fine with your setup...do.your job and the shark will do there's
Whitetails are not thick skinned, big boned animals. At your draw weight and arrow weight, you'll blow through`em and into the dirt on the opposite side with a good shot.
100gr brass insert plus 100 gr steel adapter plus 135 glue on is 335 up front. Perfect!!! I use the same only 400 spine fmj and 52 # blacktail @ 27,5 drawlenght pass through on wildebees and waterbok which are a lot bigger than whitetail. Work well up to 25 yards then drops quite fast. around 620 gr total weight
I just done up a dozen woodies tipped with Simmons Tiger Sharks. I usually have Zwickey Delta's up front but decided to change up. They fly like darts and I have to admit, I'm impressed with the penetration of the Tiger Sharks. Will be in the quiver for Spring gobbler in April.
:bigsmyl:
This past fall used a 48@28 (but drawn to 27ish) mild r/d longbow with Simmons safaris. 15 yard shot on a doe quartering away that entered behind near side shoulder and exited mid shoulder on the far side. Arrow hung up at the fletching as she took off. Zero concerns about penetration.
I killed a few deer and my first turkey with Tiger Sharks. Only one that didn't pass through was quartering away and lodged in the far leg; deer still dropped in two seconds and thirteen steps. I've been shooting around 45# at my draw and I love them!
Dynamite broadhead and they fly true.
Your well tuned proposed setup is both turkey and whitetail lethal.
Killed an elk with one last season...he was quartered, and could have literally put my fist in the entry hole.
I'm sold...oh and RMSGear sharpened them up real nice for me
I have been shooting the Simmons Safari's for the last 4 yrs and have had nothing but pass through's on whitetails. Great blood trails that I really didn't have to follow because the deer fell in sight!! You can't go wrong with Simmons heads! The bow I was shooting is my Stalker Coyote FXT. My arrows are Easton Axis cut to 27-5/8" with 75 grn brass inserts and the 205 grn head's. You will be fine with your set up.
