Carolina Traditional Archers
6072 Timber Ridge Road
Conover, NC 28613
Beginning 5pm Friday thru 3pm Sunday.
Our primitive skills weekend is coming up soon......March 31, April 1st & 2nd. Some members have been asking for a longer weekend, so we're going to try it and see what happens. Our regular shoot will be on Saturday too......same time, same place. We will also have the "Hand Made" silent auction on Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. We'll pull all the tickets at 2:00 and I'm sure there will be some smiling faces going home with some very nice hand crafted items.
We have a lot of very skilled and talented people in our club and this weekend is an ideal time to learn from one another and to share your skills with others. We always have a good group of flint knappers, some self bow building, arrow crafting, fire starting etc, etc. Bring things that you can share with others. It is an excellent opportunity to get to know more of our members and to learn new skills related to traditional archery.
We're trying to get meals lined up for the weekend. We'll have a BBQ dinner on Friday evening and a hot dog and hamburger meal on Saturday for lunch. Please plan to bring some food items you can share and we'll try to feed the hungry. We'll send out another update later with more info.
For those who would like to camp, it will be primitive camping and we'll use the old home place on the range where the three huge white oak trees are for tents. A group of ASU students from the archery club are planning on coming and will help clear and clean up that area.
Let's hope the weather will be good. More later.
Here is a small sampling of the items that will be up for auction. Lot's more to come.
Make plans to join us. The funds raised will go to help us get some new windows in the club house.

From the CTA president-!
Members & friends of CTA,
Here's the latest on our primitive skills weekend. Our food situation seems to be worked out........always important to me
Menu is subject to change ;)
Wont be able to make it to this one, ill be chasing overgrown chickens with one of the girls from the youth group.
Say Bud, the game lands will be open for the youth season, correct? I know you're the game land guru.
Good on you Dalton, I'll be up taking the grandson on his first turkey hunt. Get some permethrin, I picked up a deer tick up there last weekend and am on a round of Doxycycline. I don't know what it is, Ashe county deer ticks seem to always come out in March. I could see it as warm as it's been this year, but the last one I got several years ago, March was doing a good impersonation of February!
Yes, youth season statewide unless a special permit is required for a specific gameland.
I'd like to make it to this event but work will keep me away.
I'm sure hoping to visit the club for the first time sometime soon, maybe for a club shoot.
I have a weekend church event so I can't be there, but I should have the new moving target "up and running" for the shoot.
Again I'm not going to make it. I just had some eye surgery and probably not up to the drive. For anyone who hasn't been, this a great club with some good people and a lot of talent. Rock Knockers, bow builders, leather crafters, etc. are all a part of it. If I can get up with someone then I may donate a quiver or armguard as a door prize. :archer2: :archer2:
The ticks are bad this year. Picked one off in January and had to take a round of doxy then. I want get to make tje trip either. I always enjoy the cta shoots, fellowship, and the good food.
Jeff
