I got an itch to get one but not spend $$. Any suggestions?
I made a couple just last month. If you're handy their not too difficult.
I know a guy in Missouri that will make you one for around $30. Here's a photo of one he made for me. Shoot me a pm if you want his name and number.

Al Shoemaker of SS Calls has a field grade box call that will run in par with a lot of calls costing twice as much. I hunt with one and as a call maker myself (diaphragms) I'm very picky. I have several custom boxes in my collection and several are quite a bit more expensive than the SS. All but one will play no better than the SS. What I'm trying to stress is do yourself a favor and check them out.
dhaverstick, thats a nice looking set.
School me here Dstick. Why 2 strikers for one pot?
I'm not Dstick but different woods (I assume it has to do with density) actually produce different pitches on the same call. It's also handy to have a spare in case one gets wet
SS calls as posted above.

Thanks, Brian, I figured something like that but thought no harm in asking.
Scratch box calls are super easy to make. I can't use one as well as a good slate call. But for something you can make in about 1 hour from board bow scraps, it's pretty tough to beat.
Oh man, love the morel striker! Maybe I need a pot call too
