I am trying to switch from the glove to the tab. Mainly to use with gloves in the cold weather. The goofy little thing is quite a bit different. Any suggestions? What do you prefer?
I prefer a tab. I get a better release and I can use a light glove under it. They are also cheaper.

I can't stand tabs. I can't keep myself from playing with a tab, drives me crazy. I cut the tips out of my gloves and wear my shooting glove (damascus) underneath when I need gloves for warmth. Lots of times if it is really cold I will wear a glove on my bow hand and keep hot hands packet in my jacket pocket for keeping my shooting hand warm.
Ditto what Greg said. Just cut the fingers out of a cheap pair of camo gloves and wear the shooting glove underneath.
The few times I tried a tab, I always felt like it was gonna go flying off through the air when I released. A tab just seems to be in the way when I try to do anything with my fingers on my right hand.

Only use glove. The only tab I came close to using day to day was the buffalo mitt. Cleaner realease with glove
I have tried both. I get a good release with a tab, but usually use a glove. I can put it on and forget it when hunting. It isn't in the way and as others have said, I can just wear an open fingered glove over it. I usually just wear a glove on my bow hand and put my other hand in my pocket though.
On the recommendation of 2 very skilled archers I switched to a tab. They told me to look at all the top tournament archers...they use tabs. I was told to commit to using it..."put the glove away and just use the tab. Well at first it was not new and I didn't care for it. But now I wouldn't go back. My groupings have improved and it is starting to feel as natural as the glove did. But you have to commit to it!
I have posted the same question before. In my short time as a Trad Archer the only thing I learned about release aids is: This is one of the most personal choices people make.
The only comfort you get is that people have success with either or both. So, buy one of each, a tab and a glove, properly fitted to your hand and give them both an honest try. Your instincts and results will tell you everything you need to know. I went from glove to tab to glove again. Why? My first glove was not proper for my hand. For me, a properly sized glove works better than a properly sized tab. I have 3 gloves and about 6 different tabs all necessary steps in my conclusion that my big shot glove is best for me.

The benefit of a good tab is that finger grooves won't hinder a clean release. So, that in mind, get a good tab. The one that was recommended to me was the Cavalier Elite Cordovan tab. It has a synthetic material that is slick. There is an aluminum plate in front of this. So by grabbing the string in the same place, because of the plate, you get a consistant placement in your fingers. The plate also helps in relaxing the back of your hand. The person how recommended it to me shoots around 200 arrows every other day! He has had a tab last for a long time.
I use a Black widow tab and absolutely love it. You couldn't get me to change back.
I prefer a glove....personal preference. Howard Hill shot a glove.....so they can't be that bad. He won 196 tourneys in a row.
Use what works best for you.
I've used a tab for the past 30+ years. Make my own from cordovan leather on outer layer. On really cold days I just keep my hand in a Woolly Buggar...Doc

I use to shoot a glove but now shoot a tab and prefer it.I get a clean release and a deep hook better with a tab.I can control the arrow better,I think it is more of a personal choice which one works better for you.
sOME DAYS THE TAB works best , then the glove sometimes...use what works for you ...I have a collection :)

I thought it was synthetic because it is so slick and black. Well, whatever it is it sure doesn't act like a glove. I have shoot a lot of arrows out of it and it hasn't started to form a string groove like a glove.
