well was down in the woods yesterday stumpin and came back to full draw and POW it sounded like a .22 goin off and i looked down to see my 1970 k-mag with the top limb brroken off and pretty severe crack in the riser. Then the pain it, my nose was broken (i have broken it before so i knew the pain) and blood covered my shirt, so not a good day.
I wake up this morning and take it down to the local archery shop with little hope and talked to the guy (who is also a trad shooter) and he delvered the bad news that it was pretty much done. so now it just hangs on the wall in pieces next to the horns of the 11 point i took with it eariler this year, i was about to buy a bear montana from someone on this site but had some car problems and had to use my bow money on that so it looks like im pretty much done for this year. I will live my hunting fantasies through you guys for the rest of the season so keep em coming. Sorry for complaining but needed to vent. Thankyou...Curtis
Same thing happened to me year before last, minus the broke nose, I did that with a hand truck. Hang in there. I have yet to step foot in the woods this year.
Cris
Sorry to hear about the bow and nose, atleast the nose will heal, sent you a pm
Curtis, I think I have a bow you could finish out the season with as a "loaner" if you want. If you get up around the Howard/Carroll county area I could get it to you. It ain't pretty, but it still shoots....can't remember what brand or specs, I can post later if you are interested.
Oh man that stinks.
Is that Daryl at Bay Pro Shops that looked at the bow? Last I was in there I never saw any trad gear.
Wish I could help you out.
PM sent
Looks like a couple loners are offered. This is a great site isn't it.
sorry to hear about the bow and your nose. Glad that was the worst of the injuries. I'd imagine it could have been worse.
pm'd you
wow thanks everyone for the offers but i didnt post this for sympathy i was just upset about a rough day lol  but i have really been wanting a longbow and im just looking at this as motivation to do so. I just got to find away to work around my classes to get some more hours ;) Thanks again everyone...Curtis
Curtis, sent you a pm.
Danny
Curtis, it's not sympathy, it's more like empathy. We can feel your pain. Most of us that have been around a while have a bow or 2 we don't use so much anymore. Why not put it to good use for a while.
You're a student and need every nickle. You're also the future of our hunting heritage. The people on this site want to help protect that hetitage. We need you out in the woods so you can learn to love it and pass it on.
I have a bow you could borrow as well. As Rainman said, If you can get up around the Carroll/Howard county area send me a PM.
Save any extra money for the Baltimore shoot in May. There will be a slew of excellent bowyers there as well as the swap meet for good used deals. You can pick out a new one that shoots best for you.
Hope the nose is feeling a bit better. Dave
Like Hatrick said bro just lookin out for a fellow bowhunter!
Could you maybe use a '69 50# K-mag? I forgot how many pounds you were shooting. Also have a Jeffery Mighty-Mag Classic 47# you could use. Owen Jeffery designed that K-Mag, y'know.
Killdeer
Curtis, I also have a few bows you may borrow. 1 is a longbow I made, osage backed with boo. About 40 pounds though, might not be heavy enough for you, but your welcome to try it. Roy
ouch that sucks...... good thing there are still great people out there willing to help you out. Good Luck !!
Ive been on tradgang 2 and a half months. I knew you all where good people I could just feel it. Curtis its ok to except true help. They are really trying to help you. I don't care who you are, we all need help once in awhile and it will make it easier for you to give in the future. Food for thought brother.
I have a 45lb recurve I'd be willing to loan you. I could make up some arrows to go along. Whatever color fletch youd like.
Hello everyone and thankyou very much for your willingness to help some kid you dont even know, i think that shows the charater of proabaly 95% of the people on this website.
But Danny Rowan refused to take no for an answer and is sending me out a bow, i have never met him before and just from the little bit we conversed I could tell he is truely a good man. so thank you again, and i think Mr. Rowan deserves praise. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Good job all. I think the only thing you would need to do now is post pics and long stories of any thing you stick with that bow. :bigsmyl:
:clapper:
Good stuff. Glad you are taken care of, and hope the nose is well also. Thanks Danny, I was gettin' mine ready for him.....I guess I need to be more persistant.
