Dumb question but I am new to wood arrows. I have 3 out of my 12 arrows have indentations on them from being hit by other arrows. Are they still safe to shoot or should they be tossed?
They are POC if it matters. And I don't have a pic unfortunately. It looks like the only way to post a pic here is by linking to it and I don't sign up for anything that resembles social media, etc. (Tradgang and Linkedin are as close as I get)
I have shot dented wood arrows for years. I inspect them for cracks. If none visible when I gently flex them? I keep shooting them. I'm not an expert by any means.
Just flex them and if you don't hear any cracking , your good to go . If you do hear cracking , it's a good idea to finish breaking the arrow in two . That way it can't be shot by accident .
Thanks guys. Makes sense.
It depends on how bad the dent is and where it's located. Close to the front is a whole lot better than in the middle.
When in doubt snap it in half and sniff the ends. That's the bonus of shooting cedar!
As long as not split they should be plenty safe I found with arrows that I have that took a hit. That's what I do is flex them to check before I'll shoot. Its bound to happen shooting with others and tight groups.
If you saw my practice arrows you would just shake your head and laugh.
I shoot them and haven't had problems like others said flex to see if you hear cracking. Otherwise the are good to go
I think some of my POC has had more dents then the moon. Just check it like described above and all is good.
