Title: Bear Tartar brace height
Post by: SoggyShooter on March 06, 2017, 08:58:00 PM
I am new to archery and have picked up a Bear Tartar 35# 66" does anyone know the recommended brace height for these bows, just looking for a starting place. With the string that came on it the brace height is about 8 7/8" from the deepest part of the grip. I've done some searches but haven't come up with much. With the string off the bow it measure 60 1/4" I thought that typically the string should be 4" shorter than AMO length so I would assume a 62" string.

Thanks

Most Bear's I've had liked 8-81/4" so it seems your string is short. Talk with one of the string makers here and they will help you out. I've used Ten Ring Strings on all my bows but others are good also. Have fun with the new bow.

Yup I'd say right around 8" is where all my vintage bears like to be with the exception of the super mag 48 that one is 9". I bet you'd be around 8
