Hello all, I have a 60" Schafer recurve that seems to take a 58" actual length string. I've measured and checked several times with different strings. It has a 17" riser and now I'm thinking it might have Dave's #2 long limbs on it, making it 62". I'm not sure as I have nothing to compare it to right now.
Before I call Dave can anyone tell me how long their limbs are from the base to limb tip? Standard or long limb doesn't matter, either measurement will tell me what I need to know.
Thanks all
Probably those limbs were made for a 15" and #2 lenght.
Yes on the 17" riser they make a 62" bow requiring a 58-1/4"(factory lenght)string.
My Silvertip recurve is 60" with a 56" string. The limbs are 25", each, from nock to limb base, as closely as I can measure them along the curve. The riser is 15".
You don't need to know the limbs lenght to know what kind they are. Dave writes on the limbs after the serial num and before the poundage the type of the limbs1- short 2- long. That simple. Remember if those limbs were weighted for a 15" riser you are going to loose 2# on the 17" riser
2 is written on my limbs in the place you indicated, so I assume that means long.
These limbs don't have a 2 written on them but I believe they are older and it's my understanding that Dave didn't always write a 2 on the limbs.
Regardless I'm 90% sure they are #2 long limbs. They measure as long as McDaves and on a 17" riser (marked 60" Schafer Silvertip) it takes a 58" string.
Thanks for the replies fellas
