Title: Wood arrow advice??
Post by: MIBIGHNTR on February 19, 2017, 08:41:00 PM
Looking for suggestions on spine for wood arrows for my A&H ACS??  45lb at 30" draw and cut 3/16" past center.  Looking probably 30"-31" arrows with 125gn points.

THANKS so much!!
Mark

Add 15 lb for 3/16 cut and 5 for each inch over 28, so 70-74 for 30" or 75-79 for 31".  Best choice would be to get some test arrows/shafts, just be sure to specify each shaft marked with its actual spine, not just a range.  Paper tune from there.

I shoot 500 Axis shafts cut to 29 inches with 250 grains up front for my 28-inch draw out of my 45# ACS. Also shoot 55-60# or higher wood shafts with 125 grain heads.

With bows cut a lot past center, you can way overspine them, but you don't necessarily have to. In wood, I'd recommend 60-65# with a 125 grain point for your 45#@30 inches..

I would say it's going to be 55-60 or 60-65 spine depending on your release.  I have a 29-1/2" draw and use 31" BOP Douglas fir shafts of 60-65# spine for my 48-50# bows with 125 gr points.
