Hello all, got the chance to finally try one of Will Cocke's Black River recurves. Heard a lot of great things about them and wasn't disappointed.
Overall, the bow has a very solid design and feel to it. The craftsmanship and fit/finish is excellent and he definitely has a knack for selecting premium woods.
The bow I tried was shorter and heavier than I would normally shoot but I had no trouble shooting it comfortably and accurately right away. It also comes with a very high quality string, which is a nice touch. It's quiet, smooth, stable, and very quick. The bow is very forgiving, accurate, and has NO hand shock whatsoever. It shot differently spined arrows equally well. All great things in a bow.
In my opinion, the qualities that make the bow standout are the limb stability, lack of hand shock, and grip. The bow is just super solid and the grip is very repeatable. Personally, It didn't fit my hand great but it was comfortable, repeatable, and made the bow point well. For me that meant accuracy and confidence. As I shot it more the grip began to feel more natural to my hand.
Also, it should be noted that Wills correspondence and customer service were absolutely outstanding! He responded to emails and pic requests almost immediately and answered every question and then some. Personally that carries a lot of weight with me.
Can't post pics but can email them to someone who can. Thanks

Very nice looking stick! I had a pleasant experience with his passaround bow, but it was a little bit heavy for me, esp since I was dealing with an arm injury at the time. I am in to get "Hope" in November, and it should be a perfect draw weight for me. I can' wait to have a month with her in the woods.

I have the pass around bow and had the same good things to say. Will is not only a great hunter, he's a master bow builder as well!

contrast on that wood layout is outstanding!!!!
what are the specs?

Right! Give us some type of details about the bow!
What are the specs?
What is your draw length?
What is arrow set up?

The bow is 51@28 and 58" long. I draw 29" and it starts to stack just past that. For me, I'd order a 60" and prob in the 45# range. Will also draws 29" and prefers the 58"so a lot is personal preference and feel.
The woods are zircote/birds eye maple riser and bamboo limbs with zircote veneers (at least I think so)
The bow is very spine tolerant but I shot mostly 30" 500 spine Easton axis with 150gr up front. All the arrows flew like darts
