Title: Toelke v mcbroom?
Post by: Pat Ct on February 05, 2017, 01:33:00 PM
I'm looking for a 50's style recurve and have narrowed it down to either a toelke Chinook or mcbroom mojo recurves. For those who have shot both or either what do you think and which do you prefer. Grip, noise, build quality, etc.

Thank you!
Pat.

Had a Chinook and it was a great bow.  Can't comment on the Mcbroom.  I have had an RER Retro and a GN Ghost.  The best 50's style is the Kota Kill-um.  The Kota out shines them all for me.

I've owned about every 50's style but the McBroom, I'm a Tolke guy...  I never let anyone shoot one of mine that didn't rave about it.

I am a Toelke guy as well. I have had one with the locator grip and shot one with the classic grip. It was a toss up which one I liked more. Dan and Jared are very good at what they do.

Have not shot a McBroom, but hear he's a very good bowyer.
I'm a 50s style junkie, recently had  a 2 piece Chinook built, and it is an incredible bow...
Plus about 45 day turnaround

Never shot the McBroom bow but I had a Chinook built not long after they were introduced. There wasn't much to improve on, a great recurve by any measure, I do remember it was particularly fast, it liked heavy arrows and like all Dan's bows was very quiet.
