Title: Calling All TGMM Members - Youth Bow Fund Raiser Auction
Post by: ber643 on January 31, 2017, 06:17:00 AM
Need whatever help  and attention you can give. Listing of offers is going on now, and Auction (bidding thread) will be the last week of Feb.

The youth bow program is our main purpose for existing, along with our (TGMM's) help to generate funds for the kids of St. Jude in that annual Auction. TGMM members please stop in at TGMM and check out the Auction Action and posts. Think of some way you can help. Also check out our most recent threads and posts - we are moving onward and upward, to get back to our previous ways and desired progress. It takes our whole campfire to make things work, and  the  time is now for more action and ideas, by more current members.

We will also be offering new Memberships during the St. Judes Auction this year (and coming years), once again. There are lots of things taking place and you don't want to miss the excitement, fun, and particularly the chance to support the young archers Bow Program by means of this Feb. fund raising auction.

February is upon us, and that is the new/current month for our only yearly fund raising effort for the support of our very important Youth Bow Program - be there and be felt, please.       :campfire:          :jumper:

I don't know anything about TGMM.  (Other than the bow give away)  Where can I find more info?

Thank you for the interest and inquiry. TGMM is a sub-organization within TG and  entrance is through membership only. Once yearly, on the St, Jude Auction on TG we do offer memberships, with the proceeds going to the research for the Children of St. Jude  Research Hospital.

Unfortunately, what was said above in my post, and this information, are all anyone finds out until they become a member. (Nothing hurtful or harmful or even nit-picky going on in there, honest. Just a smaller Social Campfire than most forums.) Again, thank you for the inquiry, please watch our posts about the Youth Bow Program, and look for our offering for a membership in this years Annual St. Jude Auction here on TG I'm sure we would love to have any TGers interested enough to respond at that time be with us in TGMM

Oh yes, as I  always say, "Bless you all, bless us all!"

So if someone wants to donate something but isn't a TGMM member, are they able to?  Where does this  giving away of stuff happen?

hoping these don't cross any lines.

Seems like it would be a good idea to have as many people as possible in the "ship" of giving stuff away to for the advancement of archery.

My curiosity was up and I was willing go and look to see how I can help out.  Unfortunately, you lost me at the paying member only part.  I guess that I have a quirk in my fiscal personality that doesn't allow me to pay for the option to donate my things or spend my money. I imagine that there are several others that feel the same as I do.

LOL - I guess we are all at least a little hesitant to "spend". It is just our way of limiting our membership but not precluding new members who are interested enough in St. Jude Research for the children, and also in getting in TGMM to be a part of our very successful Youth Bow Program (give aways - usually once a month with special added ones now and then as funds permit - which are always posted/drawn, and awarded here on TG but are governed by TGMM). Mike Mecready, of Mad Dog Bows, supplies/builds all the excellent bows and handles The Youth Bow Program Funds that we raise from our Annual Auction (within TGMM), for that purpose only. I'm sure that anyone who would like to donate to that Fund/Program, without becoming a member of TGMM could contact Mike and he would welcome your donation(s). Just remember that the only way we accept new Members is through our once a year offers on the St. Jude Auction here on TG (we members of TGMM are all Trad Gangers first). Also please realize that the "cost" of those offers is not a membership fee, but is entirely a straight donation from you to St. Jude, through TG's Annual St. Jude Auction, and that generous donation is rewarded with a lifetime membership in TGMM

I hope that the posts by my fellow TGMM members, above, and mine here will help folks interested, to understand TGMM a little better. We do welcome your interest and questions, and will answer as best we can, when we can.

The fundraiser auction is by TGMM members for the youth bow giveaway program. Tradgang has many TGMM members but not very many drop by the TGMM forum very often. The post here in the Pow Wow was a "call to arms" for members who wish to support the fundraiser. The group is nothing more than that. We just paid a "membership" dues once to St. Jude so that we can then, as a group, get bows and arrows into the hands of youth.

The funds raised are used to buy materials to make the bows and arrows and cover shipping them to the new owner. Membership opportunities will be available when the St Jude auction comes in late May.

Not sure it's my turn here, but, I get the sense people are interpreting that there is some fiscal funding to TGMM as a group?

There is no PAYING TO JOIN, in the real sense.  The only PAYING is that to be an active member you make a 1-time, donation to st. jude..

THEN, if and only IF you are so inclined, you can also further donate to the bow give away program here on TG.

NO money goes to administrate TGMM, no money goes to TG and it's entirely about donating to a) St. Judes Children's hospital and then b) to help get kids into archery, if you're so inclined.

No secret handshakes, or initiation...just a group of good-hearted, generous men and women dedicated to preserving the tradition with a soft spot for Kids, both life-limited and those who don't have access to archery equipment to get started.  Entry fee to this group,  is simply to donate to St. Jude.

If that sounds too dicey, then by all means, ...choose wisely and, as you see fit!

It is nice to finally see spelled out what TGMM is.  In the past when someone would ask these questions, they were told that the only way to find out was to join.  I would think that this thread will help drum up members and support.

The only 'secret' Hermon is what the 4 letters of the 28 letter alphabet stand for.  IF that is a stumbling block, so be it... THAT, you still have to donate and "come on down" to find out and it's just a silly, fun thing... no "anti-disestablishment" meaning or nuttin!    :knothead:    :D        :jumper:

Thanks to all of you that clarified that.  Had I realized that a donation was in order to be accepted into the ranks of others that have joined in to help,  I probably would not have even posted.  I did try to chose my words carefully as I was not trying to be confrontational. My desire was to help out a good cause, and the way that I was understanding it, I had to pay to get access to make that donation or to bid on auction items.  This was my misunderstanding and I apologize for any ill feeling that it may have created.

Brad,

I'd hope there were none anywhere (ill feelings)

It's not handy to have it shrouded in some level of mystery, but it "used" to just add to the fun of it all... With so many new around, and TGMM having missed out on being in St. Judes like early on, lots of new TG members don't have the background on TGMM.

You're here, so you're "Accepted" into the ranks of Trad Gang... you just get to know what the "password" is and get access to the TGMM sub forum here ONCE you pay a $150 ONE-TIME donation to st jude thru the St. Jude auction...

Misunderstanding is not hard to understand...it's not without it's vagueness, and I along with many hesitate. I only pledge allegiance to God and Country... But given the quality of men/women ahead of me in TGMM, a few years back, I made the plunge and it's a really good group of folks there who do much for the wee ones... both thru joining by that one-time donation, and then as stated, to a bow program TGMM funds from their own ranks' contributions and a small, separate annual TGMM internal auction of donated items, if one so chooses!

No problems here. To Members of TGMM, Yep - we're still within our "bounds" as far as I can see and IMO. I hope it helps non- members (potential members) to see us, and our "family" more clearly, and satisfies any concerns about us or our guidelines or intentions. We are, when all is said and done, only a    :campfire:  of social membership, with the forbearance and blessings of TG.

Yeah. Nuts and bolts simply put. Any "dues" go to St Jude. One time deal. The rest is just the fun of getting bows and arrows and gloves and armguards into the hands of new young archers. And asking the recipients to pay it forward when outgrown.

Steve, I am so sorry there has been no response to your kind offer. We are always interested in getting bows to the young archers. I hadn't checked this thread lately as very busy right now and one of our members just notified me of it. I think probably the best thing would be to refer this to Mike Mecready. He makes all of our youth bows and handles the give a ways (with the help of other members). He would probably know how to best handle an "extra" and "special" gift offer like this. I will get a message off to him right away and ask him to contact you. In any case thank you so very much for your generous offer, and kind thought - Bless your heart.

Our (little) auction to raise funds for our Youth Bow Program at TGMM was a success - just 5 bucks under 4,000. Not bad for a revived auction, and the biggest we've ever done. AND we did this during a period of reorganization. Thanks to all who helped make this success happen, and are supporting our reorganization. Bless you all, bless us all.    :clapper:

Interested  Trad Gangers, please keep TGMM in mind when the St. Jude's auction rolls around. Folks that care for kids and trad are always welcome at our fire. As stated before, every dollar, from minute one, goes to benefit that goal.
