Title: Brace height bear grizzly recurve
Post by: Julian on January 30, 2017, 12:36:00 PM
Any of y'all know what it's supposed to be? It's a 50lb bow I cAnt remember the length off hand I don't have the bow with me. It's a little noisy. I'm getting more of a thumping sound when I shoot. I have beaver silencers on and I shoot a relatively heavy douglass fir arrow.  I'm thinking my noose is caused by my brace height from what I've read in previews posts I looked up. Not sure what else could be causing the noise. And I'm using a Flemish twist string. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All the grizzlies I have shoot well right around 8-1/8"  but each bow is different. That's just what mine are at. If it was my bow I would switch  to a different string material or maybe strand count. I'm no expert on that though. There's are plenty of great string builders on here that can give you better advice on that. In my opinion my bows are less noisy when I use a b-50 string. Comparing them in my chrono I do lose some speed but I don't care about that.

I say it's a Flemish twist string I'm actually not positive on that ,I ordered the string with the arrows from a fellow on here. I can't even even remember his name. My memory isn't the best and I never really did get into all the nitty gritty details of the bow setups ive always just enjoyed shooting more than I did all the little details.  I'm not even even sure how to tell if it's a Flemish string. I know it isn't endless loop that's what was on it when I bought it.

My Grizzly BH is set at 8-3/8". It is a 1965 model so I use a B50 Flemish string and she's very quite.

If it's a Flemish twist string, the loops will be twisted back into the string. If it's an endless loop, the ends of the string will be served just like the center.

Ok it's definitely a Flemish twist then thanks for yalls input I'm not sure what the brace height is right now but  I'm almost positive it's not 8 inches, hopefully changing the height will help reduce the noise

Always get a bow quiet without string silencers before adding them. I have hunting recurved that are longbow quiet without string silencers and with low stretch string material (BCYX and 8125g)

Just over 8" for me as well.
