May 21-26 this year! 2 spots...let me know. All info you need is on the site...thx
I can't wait to go again.
Ha Ha..I get to sit back and watch this thread this time...
I locked my wallet in the safe...
Good call Tom! Besides, certain campfire conversations can only be experienced on a bi-annual basis!
Ryan...never mind...good one.
Whomever takes these spots, surely will not regret going. On the other hand, those who do pass it up, you more than likely will.
Camp accommodations are second to none, bears were literally EVERYWHERE (in some cases the same tree as you), stands are set perfect for Traditional Bowhunters, I highly doubt you will find any outfitter who uses better bait than Ryan, the personality of Ryan and "Associates" is what truly makes camp awesome.
There is one complaint from when I went...The food sucked!!! In full disclosure though, we brought along our own food, and did our own cooking. :biglaugh:
In all seriousness, everything we needed, Ryan had, and our meals were actually Some of the best a guy could get. From BBQed Fresh Bear Backstraps, fresh Northern Pike, Mexican BBQ chicken (My Mexican Brother from another Mother, Alejandro, is one heck of a great cook, and we no longer buy our BBQ sauce. We now make it like Alejandro did in camp), Lasagna and even Mountain House meals (hard to stomach after all the good stuff though).
Like I said, when you don't go, you will forever kick yourself for missing the opportunity.
Now, to get back to my bear "bait" snack...

Thanks Mike! Not sure if the trail mix has been a bigger hit with the hunter and guides or the bears. Either way 22,000 pounds gets eaten in 6 weeks!!
Went to Ryans in 2016 and had a great time. There were 6 trad hunters and all killed bears with one being a true monster. There are three of us headed back this year. You will see bears!

Wish we had the funds for this. If we did Tracey and I would be on our way
Good luck Bill..It was great to meet you last year. Not sure which was better, the trail mix,(Bait) or your ribs...Rids maybe, lol
:saywhat:
Ryan has a great setup. Lots of bears and lots of excitement. I was there last year and I am hoping to return in the future. (http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/ss168/gsmith1949/facebook%20test/2016.jpg) (http://s572.photobucket.com/user/gsmith1949/media/facebook%20test/2016.jpg.html)
Wow, great bear! I hope to one day take a color phase bear.
It is always amazing...
here is my bear from Randy's place taken in '13:

And here is the one from last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM-E2Yqz67M
Ohhh and yeah he is a OK guy too but the senior and junior guides are the best :-)
I'd love to get in on this hunt, but the funds and time off won't allow for it this year. Sounds like a trip my wife would enjoy as well. Maybe in a year or two...
Just my perspective but I wish every tradganger could experience this once.
When I went two years ago, I questioned if I should spend the money on the hunt. My wife said "if you want to do it you better go now because you are not getting any younger". Boy, am I glad I did! One of the very best hunting experiences of my life.
And now I get to experience it again. I will be hunting with Ryan in May this year.
Appreciate the kind words guys. Not surprised by all the support here! What a great group!
Whoever ends up with these tags will have quite an adventure and definitely have multiple opportunities at bears. Looking forward to campfires with some new faces.

Campfires in Manitoba are part of the whole experience.

I don't know who's happier, me or my wife, that the beard is gone.
One of my all time favorite hunts. I am on the every other year plan, even years. I never cease to be amazed by the number and quality of the bears at Ryan's place. Ryan, Dave and Magic Mike are outstanding at what they do.
D.P.
I had a great time even though I roomed with Pagel and his brother. I've never seen 2 guys show up with more home-cooked food and enthusiasm than those two. Great guys to hang with and the joy of hunting was there every single day.
Bears are not color blind. I know this because a couple bears on Determination preferred blue Peanut M&Ms. One bear on Too Close was into those orange colored mango chunks.
Don't fall asleep on the ground after your hunt. It's hard on your guide's nerves and will mess with your reputation.
Lastly, be wary of a "Let's get together for a toast" invite the final night.
I am looking forward to 2021' (which seems like a longs ways off) to be in camp at Stickflingers with John Baer,Donovan Valley,Mike O'Connell,Dick Langer and Sean Sullivan.i would really like to arrow a Color Phase Blackie !! I have been told that Ryan has a great operation.
If it weren't for the fact that our first grandchild is due around the time of this hunt, I would have jumped on it. Will have to wait until 2018.
Thanks for all the kind words guys!
Not use to having openings for this long. Must be losing my touch!
Mike,
Your photo reminds of something from Harry Potter. Great photo!
I would like to do this hunt in the near future but after reading there is a " Magic Mike" in camp makes me a little nervous lol.
I'm not sure what I can add that has not already been said. If you want to hunt bear. Stickflingers is the place to do it! You will not find a more accommodating bunch of guys. Tracy and I are looking forward to stalking down some of those 2 tracks. The bears are everywhere! Then spending the evenings ground hunting on a bait site. There is lots of excitement to be had at Stickflingers.
I would post a pic of Tracy's bear from 2 years back but I'm having issues with photobucket.
Ryan, Any objection to us bringing Moe the tracking dog back up this year?
Instead, how about one that may be still roaming around? This from two years ago.

Just bringing this back to the top. Don't want someone to miss out on their next best adventure!
2012 Stickflingers! Shot distance about 8 yards.
Skull measured 19 3/8 weighed 396 pounds!

Never'll have the funds but wish you all a great time.
This spring will be my first bear hunt. I'm super excited to meet Ryan and his crew. I have heard great things.
Bill, and objection to me bringing a "few" milk bones for Moe?
He probably needs to keep his caloric intake high for all that tracking.

besides they taste really good!

:scared: :D I'm finally getting him back down to fighting weight after you two Jim's fattened him up in CO. Moe's whole life is a treat. I don't think he needs any Milk Bones. :D
Ryan has a great outfit. I wish our timing would have worked out better this year. Can't miss graduation...
The 22,000 pounds of trail mix is officially ordered and scheduled for delivery end of April. Will have happy, healthy, and very regular bears!!
Just refreshing this!
Went there once...sat for a couple hours then this happened.

*Chocolate toad
I have been back and passed a total of 27 bears in 5 days. Ry is my friend but I say this with all honesty: he is a heck of a bear guide! See you in 14 weeks brother! Can't wait! TTT!!!
Gonna have to get up there someday.
Terry
Would LOVE to go someday!!
I hunted with Ryan in 2016 and shot a nice bear. Well run camp with lots of bears. Probably the only camp where hunters get down out of their stand and raid the bait pile for an early evening snack!
Mark,
Tomorrow is promised to no one. Seize the day!!
I was in your place two years ago. I decided to just make it happen and never regretted it. It's a special place with great guides and lots of bear.
I saw over twenty bear and that is on the low side for most hunters, I think.
I saw bigger bear than I shot, but was happy with my bear on the last night.
Ryan sent you a pm Tim Hoeck
Down to 2 spots
