I am in the process of finishing some cedar arrows with min wax spar satin varnish. Finish looks to be very good. Any of you have experience as to what cresting paint to use and which glue for feathers? Thanks in advance.
I would think Testors for cresting paint, and Duco cement for the fletching.
Personally, I would lightly spray a quick coat of spar over the crest and once dry, dip one more time to seal your cresting. Spraying a light coat over the crest first protects your work from any smearing on the last dip. At lest that's what I do but I use gasket lacquer.

I do it a little different. Cap with Krylon Fusion, crest with an assortment of paints....Testors enamel, Whispering Wind acrylic, Model Magic enamel. I seal with Minwax Wipe On Poly several coats. I use Saunders NPV to glue feathers.
I use True North with good results and Duco!

For water base poly i crest with testors enamel paint, oil base poly i crest with acrylic paint...forget what brand. As for feathers i use fletch tape and a dab of Duco glue at both ends. No issues with the 15 + dozen sets of woodies i built.
I use lacquer for a dip then testor enemal paint and lacquer paint for creating. Do not use the lacquer over the enamel it will smear it but you can use the enamel over lacquer. Then I dip 1-2 coats of Sherwin Williams water based polyurethane to seal the creating and add an nice glossy finish. I fletch with fletch title platinum and sometime gorilla glue gel which works faster in my opinion. That's for carbons and aluminums. When I do wood it's a little different process.
I dip with water based poly and crest with Testors paint. After cresting spray a light coat of poly , of course let everything dry a day between steps then I dip in poly again.
Don't overlook the simple powers of a sharpie......
