Rob tried to calmly explain to the guy, but he went off and then he pissed me off so round and round we went. And yes, I got pissed cause I'm passionate about our mission here, and I will not apologize for it.
He's calling me a felon for replying to him, and says he's going to contact our Sponsors....the very Sponsors he was jeopardizing by using the word Bowyer in his screen name. DUH!!!
So....now if you see Tim Cooper posting elsewhere, you will know the other side of the story.
We will not tolerate anyone jeopardizing the existence of Tradgang.

Good gravey, I can't understand how people will invest so much emotional energy into an online forum. How can not getting the screen name you want be that big of a deal in the overall scheme of things. I enjoy being a guest here, have been onboard almost from day one, but if something bothered me that much (not sure what it would be) I would simply stop logging on to Tradgang.com
Making a living, kids in college, one getting married, one needing surgery- my screen name is the last item on my top 1,000 priority list.
Follow the rules and direction of the moderators, or go play somewhere else.

Just out of curiosity, I typed in "Tim Cooper archery" in Google. You get some hits that are probably some other Tim Cooper, and then some hits that seem to be related to Tim Cooper and archery, but when you click on them they don't go anywhere that has anything to do with archery. One of the hits says a Tim Cooper was in charge of an archery program in Guatemala, but the actual link is to some video about making wooden spoons. Very strange.

It's much the same on any public forum. There is always that small percentage of folks who want to fight over stupid things. I'm sure being a moderator approaches a full time job. Thanks to all the mods on Trad Gang for sticking to their guns (bows?) and keeping the site cleaned out of these aggressive types.

I remember the 'outdoor writer' that was doing to write articles to tear down TradGang. That was like 8 years ago or so. TradGang is bigger than one person. It's actually not about any person, but a lifestyle. Some want to join here to enjoy it and others think they can posses it. WRONG.

There was also the bowyer from bama 'TC' was the initials of his bow company. He was banned for screwing members by taking deposits and not delivering. Once banned, there were two other forums, ODC and POA that welcomed him with open arms in an attempt to gain members and further trash Tradgang.

You may have stumbled onto someone who is mentally ill. In a weaker moment, fueled by friendship and a few drinks, I agreed to be the trustee of a friend's estate for the benefit of his mentally ill son. He died, and I did what I said I would do for him. Believe me, it hasn't been any fun. I've been called every name in the book by the son. Finally, after about 10 years of abuse, I told him "Look, I'm too old to do this anymore, and I have heart problems. One more crack out of you and I'll resign and turn this over to a bank." I guess he prefers me to a bank, because he has tried very hard to behave since then. But the responses you have gotten from Tim are very similar to the responses I got from my friend's son.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for being stupid. :banghead:

I have dealt with individuals like this in the past. The best way I have found to have them go away is to not play their game and they just drift away.

the reason terry's even brought this subject up is how this particular person reacted to him.

I tend to agree with this...maybe Terry just wanted us to know about the various BS items he and the other admins and mods have to deal with on a daily basis. It gets pretty frustrating at times, and sometimes you just need to vent.
Personally, I'm glad to see someone with an explosive temperament not get approved as a member, would probably just generate more trouble down the road. Good work, in my opinion!
