After 5 years of getting close, missing a couple, and having a blast reading your experiences here on the 'Gang the monkey is finally off my back.
She came in a little after 8 am yesterday and stopped broadside at my little pile of sheep ration (whole oats, corn, sheep pellet, molasses) that I use to mark 15 yrds. She put her head down to smell it then took a step to offer a slight quarter away shot. I picked my spot, came to full draw, and watched as my arrow hit. I watched her run off towards some thick brush then heard a crash. I knew the hit wasn't text book perfect so my brother and I gave her a couple hours before tracking. A great blood trail led us 80 yrds right to where I heard her crash.
She is the smallest deer I have ever killed but my first with the recurve and the happiest I have ever been. Wouldn't trade her for anything. Having to go through 5 years of being spotted a mile away by even a half blind deer, being in the wrong spot at the wrong time, having my glasses fog up because of me breathing too hard with an 8 pt 20 yrds out, and being 3 yrds from a doe who just wouldn't take that next step she is the biggest accomplishment of my hunting days and will serve to motivate me to go through another 5 years of blunders and misses if I have to before I get my next one.
Thanks to all those here who keep the fire burning by sharing your stories and experiences.
For those who are interested in equipement: Cari-bow Tuktu recurve 52@28, Easton Axis 400, 125 gr Magnus snuffer with 100 gr adapter.
Sorry for the picture but the file size is way too big in original formatt that it gets full of pixels when it is shrunk down to meet size requirements here.

Size does not matter!! Respect and gratitude for a beautiful animal is a trophy that any true hunter strives for.
I never had much use for a computer, until I found this web site, and I find myself in front of this screen hoping to find a story just like the one you just told.
Congratulations! A job well done.
Heres to many happy returns, and short, wide, and bright crimson red blood trails.

Outstanding! Congratulations on your deer. jawge
Reminds me of Ron LeClaire's JFK quote about - we do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard. Congrats on 5 seasons of persistance and faith.
Cari-bows are the most beautiful killers aren't they? Congrats!
Three words will do...

Way to go , congrats :0)

Thanks for all the kind words fellas. The 'Gang sure did help stoke the fire when I needed it. Usually after blowing a great setup or lacking motivation to get out there and stay out there until dark. Truly was a team effort.
Great Stuff !!!!
Way to go bearhair!
