Ive got some new limbs coming for an Omega riser i have. Its cut to center im pretty sure. My question is this-Ive got a set of woodies (Cedar) made up for my 40# bows, i think they are 45-50s but im not real sure. I do know that they fly perfect out of my 40# bows and the arrows are 31" These new limbs are between 45-47, If i cut them down a couple of inches should they work? When the limbs get here in a few days ill know for sure, but i hate to go hacking up all that work i did this summer (first set of woodies) for nothing.
Like i said, im a total newbie at wood. I draw 29", think they will work? Also, i was planning on using them on the PBS hog hunt here in 3-4 weeks, so making another set of woodies would be pretty difficult at this point. If they dont work i can easily get carbons tuned for it quick, but id really like to try the woodies just to try something different. Thanks!!

You can really only cut an inch off your woodies if you want to hunt with them: 29" draw length, 30" arrow. I would imagine you'll be limited to a 125 grain broadhead, or maybe 150 at most without the shaft becoming too weak. It wouldn't hurt to experiment with one when you get your new limbs and see what happens. If you want more FOC to hunt with, you're probably going to want a stiffer shaft.

My guess is you'll need stiffer shafts. But I'll let others who know more about this chime in.
If it were me, I'd prep 3 or 4 carbons to get you through the hunt & then fiddle with the woodies when you have more time to tinker.

If they shoot weak, you can build out the side plate a bit to bring them in. Fuzzy side of velcro works great for this.

I'd cut a 1/4" at a time instead of just whacking an inch or two off.

Trap seems to like to play things safe. I'd whack an inch off one and see what happens! lol

If they do not fly well from the new limbs at first, leave them alone and use with the 40's. make up new ones that work better with the new limbs. Never can have enough arrows!
