Brett Eisman passed away last year. I met him at a bunny stomp and we exchanged a few PM's. Its too bad that we didn't get to share more hunts so we will hunt in his memory.
Here is the plan.
February 11th at Kanopolis Lake. Meet at the South side of the dam in the morning. Go out stomping and kicking brush hoping to scare a rabbit or 2. Have lunch shoot the breeze shoot the bows and have a good time.
P.S. Squirrel season will also be open at this time.
I'm going to try to make it
Thanks for putting this together Caleb. I'll be there.
Thanks for honoring Bretto. He was a great guy and one of my best friends. I sure miss him. I'd like to come but will be out of state then. Good luck and have a great time. Ben
Bummer that you can't make it Ben. Hope some of the other guys can come out.
I was hoping to come this year, Caleb. Unfortunately, we will be at the UBM festival in Springfield. Bummer, maybe next year.
--Mike Dunnaway
Bretto was such a good guy and I've thought about him a lot since his passing. We go way back to high school, you guys have fun and thanks for thinking about him.
I think I'll just shoot a few bunnys around here and hit the river that Brett and I grew up on and see if I can't catch a few big bluecats. Maybe get Ben to come up and shoot some Asian carp while we're at it when he gets back. I dedicated this blue to Bretto last year!

Tracy
Tracy, Thanks for the great Picture of the big guy and me. I'll certainly take you up on the carp! Ben
I wish someone had taken some pictures at that first Bunny Stomp that we had up at Valley Falls.
Guess we were all too busy eating or cooking the food at the open air dirt road buffet...
Paul, I have some that Porter took. I'll see if I can dig them up. I still remember how good that venison was you cooked!
That would be great to see Ben.
Paul, I guess they were my pictures Jan. 2009. Enjoy! (http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd251/bens5218/IMG_0389.jpg) (http://s223.photobucket.com/user/bens5218/media/IMG_0389.jpg.html) Bear with me, Photobucket acting up

Man that was a fun day. No rabbits were harmed, or seen for that matter  , but we sure ate well and had a good time. Thanks for posting those Ben.
Indeed Paul it was a fun time. I'd like to add that Dave Bulla was also cooking with the Wok/disc. I guess you can tell the food was very important to me!
Those are great pictures. Thanks for sharing them. Too bad you guys are busy. I'd like to meet all of you.
Tracy that is a heck of a fish.
Caleb, I'd like to meet you also. Bretto had really good things to say about you. Maybe you could make Snow's spring shoot.
Thanks Caleb, Brett and I tryed to go fishing several times after he got sick but he just couldn't do it. He gave it a good fight though miss the big guy!
Thanks again for doing this for him
Tracy
Man Bretto was a great member..
I must have missed this somewhere.... what a shame we've lost so many over the years.... maybe it's time to do something about it to recognize those great tradgang members that have moved on.
You are correct Terry, Brett was a great man. Miss him dearly.
Sorry to hear about Brett. I have an ice fishing trip planned that weekend but if it falls through I'll do my best to make it to the bunny stomp!

Let us know if you figure out something as we have lost some super people!

Everybody is welcome Kansas is just the state that it happening in.
I'll be there.
Good to hear Jon.
TTT
Count me in I'll bring a couple of friends. New blood for the stomp.
double post, sorry
Glad you'll be there Joe. Hope all is well.
Caleb,
Thanks for putting this together. Bretto was a gentle giant. He was always a fun guy to hang around. Lots of good times at Topeka and up at the traditional event in Waterloo.
I have a beagle puppy that is too young to hunt or else I would bring him along. Maybe next year. Tracy...count me in on the carp. We need to get together.
CK
I told some guys who knew Brett about this so we might have a couple more coming along.
Looks to be a decent group starting to gather. Looking forward to it.
I'm in and trying to get a few more on board.
I had the great fortune to meet Bretto when he came to NY and attended the JLMBH a while back...one word....gentleman!
He/we had a great time and he always said he would try to come back some day...I was sad to hear from Tracy last year when he passed...gone but never forgotten!
What time you want to meet at the dam?
I'm thinking around 9. Gonna make a trip over there this weekend to do some more scouting. Find a good place to have lunch.
I'm going to see if I can make this, anybody know the cost of an out of state small game license?
There is no small game license offered. The KDWPT website lists that you would have to shell out $97.50  to the "Free State" for a regular out of state license. Sorry... :o
There are trout stocked below the dam also. We caught a few in November, and it has been stocked a couple more times. Of course it requires a permit also.
Did you get to do any scouting over the weekend Caleb?
Well my fishing trip fell through so I'm going to try and be there. I may just bring my poles and fish the day before the stomp.
Sorry guys got an invite to go kill coyotes. Will get out this weekend.
Sorry guys won't be there after all was informed yesterday we will be working mandatory overtime for the next 8 weekends. So shoot straight and have a great day. Maybe next year.
Is this still on?
Yes its on. Rain Shine Snow or Sleet.
Gonna be a good time!
Let's meet at the black arrow 9:00 AM.

We can hunt everything that is brown or tan.
(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y532/ckmonroe/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-02/0204171747_zpsor0ajge1.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/ckmonroe/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-02/0204171747_zpsor0ajge1.jpg.html)
The little black arrow is where we will start the day. Next will be my best directions to get there.
The Dam is on K 141 Highway.
If you are coming from the south you will turn on Riverside Dr heading east you will come to a STOP sign you will turn left and go north. You will pass a trailer park then cross the river. When you get to the trees take the left back towards the dam.
If you are coming from the north you will take a left on Ave O before you get to the dam. You will follow the road the first road take a right.
If this doesn't make sense use the maps. There is a park along the river we should be able to have lunch. Feel free to bring something. I will have my grill and 2 burner camp stove to cook with.
If anybody has any questions feel free to PM me.
Thanks for all the info but ya left out the time Amigo..
:)
See you there
Updated lets meet at 9:00 AM
On google maps it looks like the left you take when coming from the north is Ave Q and the next right is Ave R. Saturday's weather forecast looks pretty good. See you guys at 9:00.
Me and CJ will be there. Oh, and I'll bring along those shoot shafts for you Jon.
I'll be there and am hoping to bring a couple guys with me.
Caleb, maybe you should put out flags or balloons on sticks at the corners for those of us who are navigationally impaired..? :dunno:
:)
I have some orange flagging tape. But this crowd probably needs signs with specific directions. Maybe I can tape some old arrows on signs pointing the direction to turn. KDOT wouldn't know what to think since its not bullet holes.
If your bringing your famous pie Paul you make get a personal escort!!
I can't make any promises on a pie Caleb but I'll see if I can sweet talk the wife into baking one.
See you guys Saturday. This may be a mistake but here is my phone number in case of any last minute questions and concerns.

Caleb,
There will be pie... :)
I have some venison cooking right now. Looking forward to tomorrow's adventure.
Caleb, thanks for putting today's event together! Dad and I had a blast, saw several rabbits, and enjoyed the fellowship. Looking forward to next year!
X2
Great job putting it all together Caleb and for picking a spot that had rabbits. Maybe one of these years one of us will connect on one.. :o
It was great to meet all the guys who came and hear the hunting, and other, stories that ya'll had to share.
This was an awesome time! Thank you for putting it together Caleb! I'll stomp the woods with you any time I can get off work lol! Great meeting John, CJ and Paul. Bronze, it's always a pleasure brother. Your dad is awesome and hilarious! You guys all take care.
And the pie Paul! Oh, the pie!

It's the people who make these gatherings great. I just put together a plan and a place. This was the only picture I took. The weather was good, we saw a few bunnys, we shot arrows and ate good food. It would be tough to find a much better way to spend a Saturday. Thanks to everyone for making the trip.
Sorry I missed it. I made one about 5 years ago and haven't been back since. I really would like to make it to one again. Thanks for the pic!
I'm sure it was a great time. I met Bretto when he came out here to up state New York just to hunt bunnies!! It was for a good cause, because it was the last JLMBH raising money for the kids of St. Jude's!!! . He was a special guy!!

As the pictures show it's not just about getting rabbits but meeting fellow trad bow guys, walking the woods, seeing some different hunting areas and having a good time.
Especially at the lunch table... :)
