There were some great stories up this year, and I really enjoyed all of them, but this one would be my top pick. I went back and reread it several times.
Frustration and the Graveyard Buck

My favorite was Stickflingers "video" story ! I'm wanting to hunt Canada in a bad way for those Giant whitetails and stuff like this fuels my fire !

5 pines 2016, the effort he puts in describing his hunts from the maps to the pictures and videos really show what an effort he puts in to his yearly hunt, he shares everything from misses to poorly hit animals all the ups and downs which really make ya root for him. Was truly excited when he took his buck, -all though not the biggest taken by our trad brothers this year his effort to capitalize was amazing and set a wonderful example for everyone about sportsmanship and what it means to be a Hunter.
I didnt really have a favorite kill. In my view, every kill is equal demanding equal respect.
There were some threads that had better detailed story lines, or better photos, but from the smallest kill to the biggest kill, deserves honor from every person here....or at least should.
If I had to elevate anyone, it would be those who took animals for the first time ever with trad gear, esp the younger generation.
Well said, Shadowhunter! I agree completely.

Agree with the "Graveyard Buck" as #1 story with"Uncharted" being a close second for me.

X2 for me also what a dream hunt and Kevin did a awesome job posting the story and harvesting a dandy bull and to mention 5 yds!! :scared:
My own of course,I have a hard time getting too excited about someone else's critter.
I liked all the firsts this year best
Agree Michael, the "firsts" threads are very enjoyable.
5 pines, for the win. The play by play, hunt-along type of post and the sheer enthusiasm in the dialog is addictive. First read every morning I logged in. The passion the author obviously has for whitetails and the land he puts so much into is admirable. And, he's a fellow Minnesota boy!
I too really enjoyed uncharted Alaska.
I lived there for 25 yrs and this brought
back some great hunting memories.
