Im at a dead stop in my decision making search for what is probably my last really nice bow. I already know all 3 choices here, I can't go wrong with. I also know each has their following. In this thread, i'd like for you to make a case for your favorite, and convince me as to why I should choose that bow. Pics are all welcomed, and PLEASE.....help me make a decision, so convince me. I want to end up with the best looking, feeling, and shooting bow I possibly can. If you've owned a couple of these brands, tell me why you like one more then the other.
My top picks are,
Caribow Slynx
Javaman Elkhart
Toelke Whip
Toelke whip because it won't take years for Dan to build it.
If you can try them it will help. Buy 2nd hand and get all 3. I know this isn't helping.
Never shot a Toelke but have owned plenty of Whips and java's. The only bow I have shot for the past 2 years is an elkheart. I will admit though the Falcon is a smoother bow.
Big differences in them. I have owned all three and if getting another it would be the Slynx since the riser is a little heavier/more mass than the others. I liked the Caribow grip the best also.
Very dangerous question because what is perfect for me or another stranger on this forum may not be for you. You could get mislead but someone's preference but that same thing may not do it for you.
Caribow could be 1 year wait, Javaman could be 8 months and Toelke is the quickest. Caribow is the most expensive but the highest quality IMO especially with the finish, flare risers or overlays. All Caribows in stock are tillered split also.
If Javaman or Toelke have a test bow I would try that out first for sure.
I have been going back and forth with Gregg at Javaman and all I can say is his customer service has been amazing and will be getting my new bow from him this year for sure
I have always enjoyed the Caribows I have seen and shot never owned one but they amazing as well
And the reviews I hear about Gregg's bows are nothing but very very happy people
I would go with my he whip. I have had several bows made by Dan over the years. I would give him a call and just talk about what all you are looking for in a bow. He is a super nice guy.

Well my friend , there's more than one flavor of ice cream .
I'm thinking that's why the banana split was invented . You can get three different flavors in one . :knothead:
Glad I could help . :biglaugh:
oops lol, I meant Caribows! Never have shot one of those but they look beautiful! Have shot plenty of whips!
I'm a Toelke man, there bows just set the standard for me. Unless you have off the wall specs I'd keep an eye out for a used one at a significant discount.
I've owned a 64" whip (nice bow) but shoot my 54" Elkheart much better. Never shot a Caribow.
Agree that you should shoot before you buy OR buy used to determine what you like best.
Best of luck.
Dan also has demo bows every once in a while. Pretty much a new bow that he took to a show and took 50 or so shots.
Every one of those bowyers is a winner. I've tried them all as test bows or at shows, and they are all impressive. So... it's an easy decision because you can't lose. But it's a hard decision because you have to choose!
What length bow do you want? 56-66" are in the range of those Bowyers.
58", or 60"....depending on availability.
I'm pretty partial to Dan and Jared's work but I can also vouch for Gregg Coffeys extraordinary work. Tough choices. I'd try to demo one somehow.
Hey! Stop talking to Coffee! I'm waiting for my bow!1http://tradgang.com/noncgi/icons/icon10.gifhttp://tradgang.com/noncgi/icons/icon10.gif
I can tell you one thing. you will not get better customer service than Dan Toelke period.. He makes a mighty fine bow also.
I have never shot a Toelke or Coffey bow. I will say my Caribow Featherhorn is one of the nicest bows I've ever had the pleasure to shoot. Maybe the best.
I've owned bows by all listed and honestly think you have to shoot each one. They all have a different grip. If I had to pick one it would be the Slynx. It's the one I've never sold. FAST, quiet, beautiful and Abe's 2pc connection is great.
Apples, oranges, tomatoes. I vote for the Javaman, an incredible bow.
It pretty much sounds like what I figured. All these are very close in quality and performance, yet with various bow heft and grips.
Im one who likes a light bow, so the Caribow slynx could be a touch heavy for me? Sheesh, this is supposed to be enjoyable.....ugh.
Thanks for the replys guys!
All 3 have stellar reputations.Have had a Whip and a Caribow.Still have the Caribow, but am hunting with a Wild Horse Creek.
Terry
I own an Elkheart, which is a great bow! I have shot Toelke's Pika (similar to the Whip) and was so impressed, I ordered one (should be arriving in about a week). I'm looking forward to comparing them further.
