Title: My new Border bow
Post by: cch on December 13, 2016, 04:52:00 PM
Just got this a couple of weeks ago and am really liking it. Border Covert Hunter ILF phenolic and heritage midnight center with Hex 7.5 limbs. Hope the picture shows as this is my first try posting.

Very nice weight to it and very quiet. 19". Also has an adjustable side plate that fits flush with the riser if not needed.

Sweet bow! Are those limb bolts cast or real antler nubs? They are finished to match the bow either way and are a real nice touch.

My Oh My!  What a looker!

That's about the prettiest thing I've seen in a long time.

BTW Chris, with winter coming on there in Montana and you working all the time, how about sending that bow over to me to keep it warm and take it out for walks?   :goldtooth:

Danny, they are actually made of bronze. They weigh about 2pz a piece.

Lon, it will be getting lots of use. I just signed up for a 10 week indoor 3-D league. So it won't be collecting to much dust. Did you ever get out hunting?

I hope to see it at the Rock Shoot or the Western States, OK?

As for hunting, I was out and got a few grouse and got a whitetail doe for the freezer.

Yes, you and the "Jinkster" from the *********** are giving us some great reviews on these bows.  We all appreciate your reports.

Rock Shoot for sure but probably not Western States. Just to far. Congrats on the deer and grouse.

Jinks and I are just pleased with Borders products. But there are lots of good bows out there. I am always looking for the next best bow. But I think I am getting close to what I have always wanted. Now if I could just find one that never misses I would be there.

"Now if I could just find one that never misses I would be there."

I've been looking for that bow all my life...and the hunt for one is sure lots of fun.

Chris, is that grip considered a medium?
Title: Re: My new Border bow
Post by: cch on December 13, 2016, 10:41:00 PM
Yes, it is their standard grip. I just asked them to make it no wider than 1 1/16" wide at the throat.

If you have a grip you like I think they do a good job replicating it.

Nice I have been eyeing these up for a long time. Any chance of a photo with you holding the grip?
I like a narrow throat on a bow and it would give me an idea of the sizing.

Need to start saving my pennies!!!

Elkken, at -27 this morning the animals might be running to Washington without my help.  Santa had to get here early so he wouldn't freeze.

Have a Merry Christmas.

It's a beaut!

Those things have some hooks on the end of the limbs...

I like it!  Thanks for sharing.

Hex 7.5 limbs. They gain about 1/2 pound an inch from 26-30". Feels like let off when you draw them.

Hey thanks for the pics! that looks like the kind of grip I like. I like to be able to touch forefinger and thumb while shooting for some reason.. It seems to help keep my hand position consistent.

Thanks again and congrats on a sweet looking bow  :)

I like the grip design as well and now I know to order the standard grip although it would be a little wider throat, thanks Chris.

If I ever buy another bow, Border will be it.

Border will work with you on grip design up to a point. I know they won't go narrower in the grip area than 1 1/16" wide but I am sure wider would be fine. Also if higher or lower is an option. Or if you have a grip you like they can do a good job of matching it.

That sure is a nice looking bow and wild design. How about an unstrung and a full draw pic if you get a chance?
