As posted in another thread I am looking for a Leon Stewart Slammer. Having said that and after looking at Leon's site I am leaning towards a 3 piece. Tell me about yours...likes & dislikes. Thx.
I have three 3 piece slammers & and a one piece, just love them. Nice mass weight in riser, very forgiving at the shot, seem to just hit where I look. I give them my highest recommendation (for what it's worth). I didn't mention beautiful bows.
I have posted a similar comment before. I am a diehard recurve guy - have been for 50 years. I have tried a number of longbows over the years and just never found one that suited me with the singular exception of the 3 piece Slammer. I had two at one time. One was a 66in 47# at 28 and the other 64in 48# at 28. I shot both of them equally well. The 66 was a real looker. I put them both up for sale here at the Gang and decided to sell the first one that someone wanted. I sold the 66 and kept the 64. I absolutely love that bow. It shoots like a dream. The grip is perfect for me and the draw is butter smooth. Took a fat doe with it a few years back. Some of my recurves may come and go, but I will never sell my Slammer. Leon is an all around super guy and his bows are superior in every way. I also have a Lil Slammer one piece that is very light in the hand but I find I can shoot that better than any one piece longbow I have ever tried as well. It won't be leaving either.
The Slammer, whether 1pc or 3pc has been my benchmark for a performance longbow for years now. They just do everything right. If you need the mass and portability the 3pc is the way to go. I settled on a custom Lil Slammer I had Leon build me in 2014 that is my tight spot bow.
Chuck, Sent you a PM.
First off...Leon is an awsome bowyer and a great guy! You can't go wrong with either Slammer! I have shot many of Leon's bows and they all shoot great. I myself have a 1 piece Slammer...i sold the R/D and Slammer Special. I don't care for a 3 piece but thats me. The nice thing with the 3 piece is if you want different poundages you just need the limbs built. Also if you like a heavy bow the 3 piece is heavier then the 1 piece. If you need anymore info or have other questions give Leon a call.
Thanks guys, I appreciate all the input. I plan on giving Leon a call tomorrow.
