Title: Can I Join Groundpounders Inc.???
Post by: mcgroundstalker on October 28, 2007, 06:26:00 PM
Wonder what it takes to be a member of Groundpounders Inc.? Lets see now......

1. You are gonna need ten different camo outfits.

2. You must learn to eat acorns and grass only.

3. Must paint your face. No headnets allowed.

4. Gotta be the first up so you can cook for your ungrateful ****** friends.

5. Gotta be the first back at the house so you can cook again for those one-way ********!!!!!

6. Send above stated "buddies" to all the GOOD SPOTS... So you can stay back and clean up before your wife throws you out.

7. Hide the Beefeater & Sprite and watch grown men cry themselves to sleep.

8. Hide all the towels so five guys have to use the same dish rag to wash up.

9. Shut the water just when the chubby one is all soaped up in the shower.

10. Take the crew to the BEST SPOT 30 minutes before they gotta go home.

I hunted with Joe Skipp, southpawshooter, bamboo and Wood Only for the opener of deer season. It was the BEST TIME I had with a bunch of Trad Guys since who knows when. Would LOVE to have them back anytime!!!

Let's see; I don't own ten different camo outfits, and I don't like gin(prefer Kentucky straight bourbon or beer). So, I guess that let me out. ;)

Groundpounders Inc was formed by fellow PBS member Steve Deethardt (Tomah, Wisconsin) and myself years ago. We took exception to those who thought you couldn't harvest decent bucks from the ground...you can ask Judy Kovar about her kills too....

Anyway....Little Iron Mikey Ciccone was a gracious host. Cooked all our meals, ran and grabbed everyones arrows from the 3d Targets, read us bedtime stories and delighted everyone with his fine selection of entertaining videos.

His "camp" was what we would call a HOME. When you take a city boy from the Bronx, move him upstate to the Catskills....they overdo it with the building. Every day we were reminded not to get the floor dirty because the "Boss" was coming up on Monday....By the way...she is 7" taller than our little Mikey!

The abundance of deer we kept hearing about never showed themselves. All we did was still hunt and drive different sections of land. What took me about 15 minutes to drive a small piece of property....took Mikey 2 hrs the following day. You see...the briars and thick cover was about 5'8" high....and Mikes GPS had a hard time getting any satelites through the dense cover.

The Best Spot for last....ah yes...apple trees loaded with apples and runs coming into the field that looked like Buffalo ran through it. While we stood there in the waning minutes of the last evening...Ol Mikey...with that puppy dog face calmly stated.."Gee...I forgot about this place..Its my favorite, maybe next time fellas."

His rules for Groundpounders are unique to his camp. They may not fit ours but it made for a nice fun filled weekend. Maybe we can do it again next year....only next year, we put Woodie by himself...its tough waking up every morning to the infamous...Sneeze..F...T...Wheeze before breakfast

Dave K...if you ever come...just keep repeating these words..Producers...Producers... You''ll know what we mean!

Mikey....applications available upon request...there is a 6 month waiting period as board members must thoroughly review the applicants. I'll be in CT with Bamboo all week chasing whitetails around. Some early chasing going on and the rubs and scrapes are becoming more noticable. Looks like a good week for a couple of old groundpounders....  :archer:
