Hey folks, Im putting together a small game hunt and gathering in Parke County, Indiana on 1/14/17 at the Sugar Creek Conservation area.
The physical address is 1775 W 830 N Bloomingdale, IN 47832.
The area consists of approximately 1300 acres of hardwood forrest, over grown fields and creek bottoms.
It has a great population of both fox and grey squirrels as well as rabbits. The rabbits will be tough without snow or dogs so feel free to bring your beagles if you like!!
So bring your favorite bow, a quiver full of arrows, and enjoy a day in the cold!
This will be loosely organized where folks can meet up and hunt in either small groups or alone. similar to the hunts we used to have at Atterbury.
I will bring my big cast iron kettle and make up a 20 gallon pot of chilli to keep everyone warm!
Hope to see a lot of you there!!!!
That sounds like fun, to bad I am scheduled to work.
Play hookey!
Probably won't be able to hunt by then, but may be released to drive. If all goes well I might try to make it up for a visit!
I just might be able to make it. If nothing else, meet fellow brother and sisters and fling few arrows.
Meeting the friends of the bow is the important part. Things like this gathering are fun and you can start great friendships.

Oh, oh, oh. me. I wanna go. Is it just the day or are we camping? I got some beaver to kill nearby anyway so I'll set some traps while I'm close. I can't wait. Thanks for getting this together.
John, just shooting for the day. Unfortunately there is no camping at this location. Looking forward to seeing you, drag the old gang along!
There are state park camp grounds near by but I usually avoid those...the cost, having to buy/bring wood and all that. I don't even know if they're open this time of year.
My wife and I are talking about coming down and moteling it.
Maybe come down Friday after work to avoid a long early morning drive. If I can make it and if there's something to shoot at I could even talk myself into a quick hunt Sunday morning before driving back.
20 gallons of chili sure sounds inviting!
That's fine. I'll probably just stay at the lakehouse on Raccoon. There's no running water that time of year but there is heat :) I'll pass the word along to the others in case they don't see this.
For those looking for a place to stay, I recommend the Inn at Turkey Run State park. It's just a few minutes away.
And yes please pass the word along!
It's looking like we're going to have a great turnout!
If I can make it I'm just goina stay with my buddy Dennis, he lives somewhere in that area.
Always welcome at my place Steve, make a week out of it and we will go to Kalamazoo!
Sounds like fun, I may try to make it.
I will keep that in mind...
Sounds like a fun time. I will see if I can make it.
If i can get the time away from working on my house i may join. This is onky about an hour drive for me and would be really neat to meet up with some of you guys
Sounds like a great time. Just too darn far...thx for the invite...pat
I'll be there!
We're getting closer, looks like we're going to have a very nice turnout, possibly even a bowyer with some nice trial bows!!
Hope you all can make it out!
Who's the bowyer? I'm in the market for another bow so I have a backup and I'm getting nowhere at all figuring out what I want.
It would be great to be able to shoot potential options.
Sauk trail archery.
Getting closer guys!
The weather forecast is something. Snow is nice and no problem, but ice/freezing rain? I will observe the weather close.....
supposed to rain all the way thru next Wed.
wish I was closer
Rains a possibility there saying a high of 36° so we will be above freezing.
There will be plenty of chilli and coffee to keep everyone warm!

Dennis,
I hate to do this as I was really looking forward to some time with trad folks but I am going to have to bail. I just don't like the looks of this forecast. Sorry. I hope you have clear roads and a good turnout. Take care,
John
I've gotta echo John, don't wanna chance it. I'll be free after 2/10/17 to met up with anyone here in In.
Well if you guys wake up and the roads are clear feel free to come!
As of right now there's no precipitation up this way and only a 40% chance tomorrow.
