After a long season of carrying my 49# Spirit Longbow to the Illinois timber I finally got an opportunity at a deer, a young spike. I shot him at 15 yards and my 125 grain Woodsman flew through his lungs like butter and I got the full pass through. He took about 3 bounds before falling over dead as stone. Such an amazing feeling. I'm hooked for life!

My first deer was, oh, 22 years ago and I can still remember every detail. The flight of the arrow, the sound of the deer crashing (at that time I had no idea what that meant), the smell of my broken cedar shafts. Everything.

Fantastic!!! Way to stick with it. You carry a deadly and efficient weapon in your hands. It will serve you well and add to the fulfillment of the hunt. :clapper:
Good deal, congrats, and great picture.
Congratulations on your spike! I really like your picture also! I know you've asked in another thread about possibly purchasing another longbow, and asking for advice on bowyers. I absolutely loved my Spirit longbow and would still have it, but had to drop down in bow weight and had enough bows in my stable. When I get my next longbow, it will be another Spirit. There is nothing that I could find fault with one of Bryan's bows. Good luck in your search, there are a lot of good bowyers. Again, congratulations on a fine deer! :clapper:
