I have to admit that I am getting more and more addicted to shooting that ASL.  Just plain fun.  I have been ground hunting off and on for years and years, but the last three or four have been near 100% on the ground.  It works, but obviously has its drawbacks.  The good thing is if I fall asleep and fall out of my chair, it isn't very far to fall.

Taken after a nice young buck came about 15 yards in. Of course he didn't offer me a good angle with the birch tree in the way. That was Dec 24, last day of the season. Sitting on the ground. The buck hung around for a minute then slowly walked off.  :(

It's Beaver fur and I purchased it back in 1998 when I lived in Nome Alaska for a short time. The hat design is pretty typical for that area. Check here  web page (http://www.alaskafurexchange.com/hatstrapper.shtml)  . The trapper hats displayed look like the same design. I think I paid about $160 for this hat in '98 and it was made by a local Innuit.
