Title: Arrow spine question?
Post by: dixiearcher on October 26, 2016, 10:20:00 PM
So I have the opportunity to pick up some POC shafts but was curious about the spine. I shoot a Black Widow PMA 45# at 28" which I draw to 27". These shafts spine at 40-41# full length. If I cut them to 27 3/4" BOP and used 125 gr. heads, could I get decent / safe arrow flight or would they be underspined no matter what I do? Never shot POC but would love to make some up. Thanks

Those might be a touch weak...

Yep.  Too light.

That's what I was afraid of. I will just have to order a set of 45-50 sure woods or POC. Thanks for the replies

For a PMA, I suggest adding 15 lbs to your draw weight for a 125 point and 28" BOP.  55-59 lb spine.

Why 15 lbs if you don't mind me asking? The three rivers calculator shows an almost perfect match at 47# with that set up. I am shooting 50-55 ramin shafts that I had made for another bow with 145 up front and they are way too stiff. They are also really heavy though...

I also think that  the 55/60# spine if you stay with 125 grain would work out a lot better.  Steve
