I have a 69 coming tomorrow and it needs refinishing, how do you guys that have done it recommend doing it?

I have a '69 Super Kodiak that I had John Rafferty at the Bow Hospital refinish for me.  I was very happy with John's work.  Sorry I can't help you with a "do it yourself" method.  These are great bows by the way!

I'm pretty sure Rich Lopez doesn't do it any more. And, I haven't read anything from bowdoc in quite awhile. The Bow Hospital, or doing it yourself are the options.

I cannot believe that a largely phenolic riser bow is a good candidate for a first refinish attempt

I also had John Rafferty refinish my father-in-law's 68 SK - he did a great job.

I have a pdf document I can email you. A how-to recently completed by Jorge Coppen. A complete-step by-step with photos.

I did a 69 Kodiak a few years ago. Just take your time ad you'll do okay.  I sanded all the finish off then refinished w/ wipe-on poly.
