Title: First Lite Camo clothing
Post by: wingnut on October 24, 2016, 04:13:00 PM
This year we upgraded our hunting gear from Cabelas wind proof gear to First Lite.

I took the following to AK with me for our moose hunt.

Corrugate Duraflex Guide Pant
Allegheny 230g Merino Bottom
Uncompahgre Puffy
Vapor Storm lite Jacket (rain)
North Branch Soft Shell
Llano QZ
Chama Hoody

Most mornings with the temps in the low 20s I'd wear the Llano with a the Chama over it, the merino bottoms with Guide pants. This was great for traveling with my pack on.  The Puffy and rain jacket went into my pack for use when we stopped.

It was by far the best gear I've ever used.

John was so impressed he is selling his current high end stuff and going with First Lite.

We bought the guide pants and chama hoodies also this year! Most comfortable best pocket lay out pants I've ever worn! Also picked up a pair of the merino kanabs , they are real nice but I don't care for the pocket layout as much but did really like the suspenders, ended up using them on the guide pants. Stayed dry in the guide pants when I would of been soaked in my other pants. If you have the coin, they are impressive gear!

I have purchased a bunch of First Lite gear over the years and love their apparel! I've used it in WY the past two years and can't say enough good things about the performance of their offerings. I'm glad you're happy with their gear too. First rate company for sure!

Early adopter here. Their wool is great stuff.  Synthetics a bit noisy for eastern whitetail hunting in my experience. Have the Kanabs which they continue to refine in V 2.0. Tried the aerowool this year. Seems ideal hot weather shirt. Half zip lets you show off your bling bling.

I have ther kanab pants and was planning to get the Puffy.  Now you have my attention on the Duraflex pants.  I've never read anything but good things about the Puffy.

i have a ton of their stuff. it's all first rate. i bit the bullet and bought the Sanctuary Jacket and bibs for when it gets really cold.

quietest, warmest material you could possibly imagine.

really love the merino wool stuff. a warning though: buying their gear is extremely addictive.

I love my first lite stuff.  I slowly redid my system over the last two years.  The only thing I dont like (which is not their fault but an inherent merino trait) is the inability to cut wind.  I usually have to add the halstead/uncompahgre vest to cut wind when its a bit colder but not cold enough for the sanctuary stuff.  I used the redesert boxer/kanab/llano/chama/brimmed beanie/talus glove in Colorado back in September, paired with a marmot puffy it handled everything.

I love my First Lite base layers!!!! I bought an Uncompahgre vest last year, and did not care for it too much because it was noisy. I wear my Llano and Chama tops a lot, and just ordered 4 more Llano shirts!

Iv'e got some FL base layers in ASAT, Realtree and fusion. My puffy jacket, North Banch jacket & bibs are in Realtree. My Sanctuary jacket & bibs, as well as my Woodbury jacket, are in fusion camo. From now on, everything I buy will be in fusion camo. That pattern is awesome!

I love First Lite clothing! I have a Llano, 2 sets of guide pants, puffy vest, north branch bibs, sanctuary jacket and a beanie with the bill! All my stuff is in Asat except for one pair of guide pants that are brown. I plan on buying more soon hopefully, it's the best gear I've tried so far!

All my exterior gear is in fusion.  Base layers are pine.  The fusion was great in Alaska.

Trying to download a couple of pics into photobucket but it's real slow.

I stumbled across a Chama hoody by accident while searching the bargain cave at cabelas last fall.    Absolutely love it , one of my favorite pieces of hunting clothing.   Only one they had and it was my size , and only 38 dollars!  Great clothing.

I just a pair of the 2.0 Kanab pants.  Really like them except they only have 1 back pocket.  For the money I like Kuiu a lot more.  A lot more features for less $$.

Question for those that have the Uncompahgre Vest....is it noisy? I recently bought their new Cirrus Lite Jacket and am disappointed with it. It is extremely moly noisy. I have the Sanctuary Jacket and that is very quiet and would have thought they would use the same fabric in the Cirrus or the vest.

its not as dead quiet as the sanctuary stuff or the wool/fleece but since it doesnt have sleeves it doesn't really crinkle.  the portion over the hand pockets is a nylon material while the upper portion looks like the same soft material from the sanctuary.  Im wearing it as on outer layer right now to cut wind and haven't had any issues with noise.

I've got a First Lite Springer ASAT vest in xxl that I found on clearance locally. Fits perfect over an XL Asbell wool pullover. Just picked up some ASAT Kanab original pants new at a store in Libby Montana. Real nice! They have a real nice layering system and all wool too boot. I don't think you can go wrong with ASAT and how it really brakes up your outline. First Lites new pattern that the gent above is wearing is pretty incredible as well. If only First Lite did the Winona pattern!

Mike - What brand of gaiters are your wearing?
How do you like them?

Outdoor Research Crocs.  I've used them on eve4ry hunt since 2010.  They work great but are very noisy.  The new moose area is pretty brushy rather then an open burn like the old one. Going to either come up with a quieter solution or go without next year.
