Got home this evening and was looking out the back window. I've got a spot where I dump corn for the critters that's about 20 ft out my kitchen window. Well the moon was overhead at about 5 pm or so. First this guy shows up:

Then these 2 dudes show up:

And then I was able to get a close up of this guy as he walked about 10 ft out the back window.

It made for a late dinner as we sat around watching the critters for quite awhile.

Otto, that is indeed awesome! Thank you so much for sharing those. As much as I love my deserts and tropical swamps and savannah, I can't help but like the scenery and animals that I see in pictures of rural or wilderness USA and Canada. Thank you, Ben

Do you live next door to the Ferret?????

Lost Arra
Ferret lives about 40 miles from me.
I never saw either of these dudes all season long either.
Oh yeah....what looks like a 3rd deer in the background is one of my McKensies.

Really nice pics, That one close up has a nice massive body on him. He should make it good through the winter. They both look very healthy though.
-
Thanks for sharing! Those are great. I see the neighbors dog once and awhile...

Nice pictures. Just don't let the local poachers get wind of it. Seems nice horns make them go nuts.
We had a nice 8 point that came around most every night. My wife considered it a pet so of course I couldn't hunt it. One morning the report of a rifle shook the house. I ran out and caught a trespassing poacher dragging it away with a 308 in his hand. Shot it right in my yard aiming towards my house. What nerve. 911 dispatched a sheriff while I detained the perp. Later a DNR Conservation Officer took over the case. Believe it or not but I couldn't prosecute him because one edge (creek) of my property isn't posted. He still got in trouble though.

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing.

They look like brothers. The racks are nearly identical in conformation.

Now those are some nice deer. Great job on the pictures.
-
Thanks for shareing those pictures, gives me an idea run out and get some corn the deer could use it out here we are in an artic freez right now and food is probly getting scarce. I saw a young deer eating bark off a small pine the other day.
-
Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. It'd be nice to have a backyard like that. Frank
-
Looks like my backyard, Otto, except we have very few foxes anymore. Had a mange outbreak about 15 or so years back, and what few have come back have been pushed out or killed by coyotes...
-
Nice pics! I saw a fox this past weekend too.

ND Terminator
Ditto on the yotes here and their effect on the fox population. I used to see foxes every year when I bowhunted. The last 3 years all I've seen are more and more yotes and fewer and fewer foxes.
-
Cool pics! Those deer do look alike. I looking forword to the day I can look out my kitchen window and see those sights! Living in mega metro area right now and it bites!

I wasn't feeding the wildlife. I was planting an early crop and accidently spilled 5 gallons of corn and sunflower.
I take it baiting is illegal in Il.????
-
Otto,
Are you a Westsider or East of Cincy. I've seen a lot of good deer along 74 and US50 on the Westside over the years.

Nice pics Otto,
I rattled in a buck this year like one of those. Never gave me a shot though. You live near KI correct? Dad and I drive up that way in the GTO ever once and a while. (Not now there is salt on the roads though)
-
Yeah, I'm over on the east side of Cincy near KI.
Lot's of deer here but development is taking it's toll for sure.
-
Steve,
Just under "blah blah blah" is in bold type, "Note: Hunting deer over bait is a separate offense. See page 11." So, Yeah......LOL
Under "Except:grain or other feed scattered or distributed solely as a result of normal agricultural, gardening, or soil stabilization practices. So, you're in!.......
