Sorry, my online vacation hunt may be dragged out a bit this year. New job responsibilities make it harder to take off several days in a row.
So I have planned a day here and there leading up to a longer spell of Nov 3 - 11 including Magic Wednesday, the 9th of November. (4 - 10 hour days a week and a holiday thrown in makes for several days in the woods!) :bigsmyl:
Seems like all hell breaks loose in the deer woods on the Wed. before gun every year here.
I have an eye on a deer on my place thru trail cam pics, none in daytime and have to have an East or Northeast wind to even hunt here. A 4x5 with a big body, would like to weigh him for sure.

Not our usual wind.....
I will keep this post updated as I can, will start hunting in the morning! :archer2:
Good Luck!
Good luck and enjoy your hunting opportunities!

Good luck Kenny !!! Looking forward to hearing more about this.
Looks like a boss good luck man
Same here Kenny-- checked a camera last night and only night movement for the last week....temps droping today so should improve. And I have off wed thur fri before gun season with ya!!
Tim
Good luck Kenny, that's a great buck. I know the feeling with work, but those days off and in the woods will be even sweeter.
Life and the world have conspired to keep me out of the woods so far but as of today that ends. I'll be headed north by noon.
The week coming up I'll be hunting the lease and after that until the guns pop I'll be hunting 20 miles south of there.
It's about time!!
Should I add that the weather has changed for the cooler.
Shoot straight and enjoy your time in the woods.
Steve Jr
Charlie....could it have got much hotter? I've never sweat so much during bow season.....lol
Tim
2 bucks by at 10 yds about 7 15.
Doe with small twins just by at 10 yds. Liking this new Crossroads stand!
And pretty happy with the light wool this morn!!

Great place to be this am!!! Good luck brother...
Good luck! Wish I could trade places with you right now. :D
Thanks everyone!!
Great morning, every deer I saw was 10 - 12 yards out from stand and no snorts!! 2 bucks early on, 7:17 I think, no pics, camera wouldn't cooperate, wanted me to set time and date again. Bigger one was 115ish so no shootin.
Then a small doe with twins, passed her too.
Then some noise behind me and a little bigger doe acting like something was hazing her, made a near complete circle around me, I was trying to see what was after her and passed her too. Don't tell my wife I let that one go! LOL
Last was a half dozen turkeys that fed at 30 yards forever before ambling off away from me.
Left the stand at 9:45 , had stuff to attend to and needed to look at my furnace. Think it is fixed, thanks to my furnace guy telling me what to look for. Second time he has saved me a service call .
Gonna frost tonite, momma don't like frost in the house. :D
Back in the saddle at bros farm!
Go get em! It sure is nice to see some game when in the stand!
Back in the saddle at bros farm!
Saw plenty of deer tonite, no large bucks. Best was a 2.5 about ear width with shorter tines, think an 8.
Lots of spikes and forks and the cool weather has em rarin to go. Chasing does around a lot.
Almost had a good shot at a dry doe, but she got chased!
Good to hear your seeing so much action up there in N Mo. Now that the front has hit the southern portion of the state hopefully my deer will start moving during daylight hours
Good Luck Charlie.
Kenny, its good to hear you are having some action.
2 smaller 8s this morn one at 18 , other at 6 yds. Think I might have rattled em in, but it took a long time to get here.
Heard em spar a bit so I did too. Took maybe 10 minutes to get here.
Just got snorted at, dang fickle wind.oh well, great morn in woods.

Bernie

Congrats! :archer:
Great job Kenny. Congrats
Beautiful dogs Kenny, congrats!
Thanks guys!
Joe- dogs?
I saw 5 last eve, 1 spike , a couple does and fawns. A little slow but nice evening. I really dislike light and variable winds, I heard one snort, but was a long ways off, don't think it was at me but still bugs me!! :p
Excellent action this early season and a very fine harvest.
Congrats!
Had stuff that had to be done this morn, but planning for tonite already.....
Back at my bros tonite. New plan for an old nanny.
Oh and bro sat up on the ridge yesterday and saw a good buck down where I am. May be too warm for him to move in day tho....
Saw 2 little bucks and 5 coons last nite, pretty slow.
Skipped this morning, wife is gone and hated to put Zwickey in her kennel all day because I'm gonna go help cut a deer up after a bit .
:campfire: :coffee:
Congrats!....I'll be in the theater all afternoon.
Call ya tonite then T...
congrats on the doe Kenny
Thanks Jim!
Now back to work for a few days, my big portion of vacation is drawing nearer. I always love the week before gun, my brother John takes off also and we can conspire against the bucks! :bigsmyl:
   :campfire:
Congrats Kenny!
Good luck during that week before rifle... they ought to be out and moving pretty good by then!
Thanks guys! I can't wait.
Bro's farm had a big EHD die off last year and we thought the pickings would be pretty slim this year. They must have moved in due to the good eats because it is back to at least normal looks like. Haven't seen much for bigger bucks tho, maybe they don't move to new territory?
That's my kind of blood trail Kenny! Good job!
Congrats on the doe, Kenny!
Bisch
Time has gotten away since I posted here, think I have all ends tied up so I can hunt uninterrupted tho....
2 more days, then 11 days of hunting(if I buy a gun tag for the 12/13) (WHICH I WILL, ALWAYS DO ! LOL)
Work is done til the 14th, at it in AM. Temps are gonna be a little warm, but not unbearable for the next week, 45ish and 65ish for low and high.
A great buck got hit on hiway by my road tonite, 1/4 mile from my house. 160+ by a quick guess, now for a moment of silence.... :(
Good luck Kenny! Hope you have a great hunt! Really hate to hear about the road killed buck :(
A little warm yet, saw 2 does and a decent 8 this morning. 1 doe at 7 yds, buck at 25.... no shootin.
First day of vacation went rather well, passed a doe early , then this guy at 25 yards about 8:30
(http://i.imgur.com/zZH1HkY.jpg)
Then this eve, tho too warm, this one got within 25 yards and started rubbing a 15' tall tree, it was whipping 6' at the top, I almost fell outta the stand in surprise. He was either bedded in the scrub ash thicket and let me slip in and get in the stand or slipped in on me.
I let him go east and then thought, heck I have my little Canon camera, so 3 grunts and he walked by at 11 yards.....
And this pic I like, so I'll post it too, he was at a scrape at 20 yards
(http://i.imgur.com/NdvSkxi.jpg)
Also passed a couple does this eve , they knew something was up so I stayed frozen for seemed like an hour!!
Wind is right for fat boy in the morn, wish me luck!! I wanna weigh him!
1 doe this morning, 80 yards, no story....
Nice pics n story Kenny!!
Good luck
Tim
Good luck I can't wait to see how much fat boy weighs
Awesome pics
Good luck with your vacation time Kenny! Nice pictures!
Bernie
Thanks guys! Temps aren't gonna be the best, but things should get better soon!
I tried to sleep in this morn, been up at 5:00 for about 10 days, made it til dawn, wind wasn't real good for anything I had so drove around a couple sections. Saw a whale of a buck where I can't be! LOL
SE wind tonite and tomorrow, look out fat boy!
Your will power is better than mine. You passed a pretty good there Kenny.
Good luck!!
HAHA , I may end up regretting that, David !!! LOL
Kinda did last year, but the one last year was much better than those. But does eat better anyway than bucks.....
Just climbed in stand in fat boys turf. Being very careful to only hunt it wind is great. We gotta cross paths sometime!
Have not seen ol fat boy in person yet. Won't hunt with wrong wind and have had plenty of that. The corn next door is being cut today, bad or good don't know. Gun is saturday, so that may be the end of him.
Meanwhile, I have seen and passed on other bucks and does. Has been a great time away from work.
Good hunt this afternoon , wind in NE , went to the South edge of a bedding area where I took a buck in 2014. Sat about an hour and at 2:15 a buck came thru. Not one of the big boys but with gun tomorrow AM, I.....
Remembered I had to telecheck him... Back in a bit... :bigsmyl: :D
Alright Kenny!
OK, went this morning, saw 2 little bucks(well , one was thru brush so I'm sayin he was little to make me feel better) , wind was crappy, so went home and had lunch. Called bro , he says why don't you come hunt that stand on South end of bedding area? After the usual arguing about who should hunt it, he says I have a lot to do and won't be able to hunt tonight.
Sooooo, there I was at 1:00 , wind wasn't bad for stand coming from NNE. I sat til 2:14 when I saw a buck cruising toward me from the East. I started to reach for my camera, and thought" dummy, tomorrow morning is gun season"
So I readied my bow and when he was in a good spot, drew and made a little mouth bleat. He stopped, I released and it looked good. A bit low to suit me but tight behind front leg.
He mule kicked and I thought heart...
He ran South and went in brush at a levee, other side is new hunters who have been hunting it hard. I thought, nooooooo, but he went in.
I marked the spot mentally and waited....
After 20 minutes I got down and marked where he was when I shot, and he kicked taking off. Good blood in 10 feet, arrow fell out in 20 feet, and I waited the other 10 minutes before heading out in the beanfield he crossed.
Blood wasn't real great, but hard to see on dirt. I tracked him into the brush on the other edge, about 80 yds so far. There he turned left so not to jump the ditch at levee. Blood was better but not pouring out for a low 2 hole shot.
Then I came to where he stopped, too graphic to show, he leaked a lot there. Another 20 yards and there he lay like asleep, curled up like a pup.
I watched him for several more minutes, then went on up. All pics were taken just as he lay.
Nice one and good shot!!!!!
Congrats Kenny....knew you would get it done! Hopefully, fat boy will make it through gun season and you will put him on a permanent diet.
BTW, Craig has a story to tell.
way to go Kenny,congrats!
That's the way to get it done Kenny! Gun season thins them out pretty quickly! Congratulations on a very nice buck - great picture also! :clapper:
Bernie
Way to go! Congrats
Atta'boy Kenny!!!!
Tim
Great buck, Kenny!
Congrats,
Bisch
Good shootin as usual Kenny!!
Thank you guys!! Everything went right on this one, right down to the combine showing up to cut the beans so we had to drag him 15 feet instead of a half mile!!
Kenny - he sure looks like the one you passed on the 3rd... Same nobbed off end on right G3....If it wasn't for the forehead color looks like the same deer. Looking back maybe it is the same buck and the color is from the lighting....
Congrats! I cut bait and came home this past Monday, was on my place in MO for a week and with the heat very little movement. Got 3 acres of beautiful oats and not a nibble. They were eating acorns like it was September. Planning to give it a go out there around Christmas.
R

Handsome buck! This has been a great thread to follow along.
Congratulations on a nice buck Kenny.
Thanks guys! My butt is chapped from 9 days in stands, but I got up this morning, grabbed my bow and a gun tag and hit it again. Had 6 does in range, 2 more out of range and a basket rack buck at about 200. Life is GOOD !!
Here is the buck as I walked up to him. I was a bit concerned he might get up ...

Well done Kenny! See you in 13 days........
