This morning I had an incredible encounter sharing a tree with a good friend in Oklahoma. We had a 140-150ish buck come through and just as I prepared for a 20-25 yard shot in an opening as he continued on the the North/South trail the deer use in the saddle we hunted. The wind was good but he stopped right before getting into my shooting lane and turned to the west only to walk out of our lives.
It was another amazing encounter that didn't quite come together.
Well Rats!
Cool encounter
Yep, happens a lot and the deer I'm talking about were not 140-150" class.
Big deer seem to have luck on their side more often than not....
Great encounter!
Is there something wrong with your email it got returned?
It's amazing how often that very scenario plays out every year.
Yep, 1 more step for me this year on a nice 8 and dandy 11 point with a 5 in back kicker. One more step...
As the hunter that you are- Michael, you will experience this typical encounter time and time again.
A common occurrence when utilizing a ground pursuit and quite common when pursuing turkeys.
Have passed on 13 separate solid shot opportunities on bucks from the ground this season alone and have had over 22 bucks 14 yards and under within my shooting window, Note: Opportunities do not translate into harvest. Had presumably and easily the largest buck of my hunting experiences in KY standing in the middle of my shooting window for 2 minutes at 12 yards last week. Why did he take so long to travel the last 60 yards? Was too dark for an ethical shot.
Perseverance, patience, adequate strategy, proper timing, deer cooperation and good fortune will provide that coveted desired scenario.
