Ok so here is where we are....The dies for the double bevel Grizzly are finished and we are getting good parts. We will soon be welding heads. The problem is I still have no idea what to call this head!I would like for the name to be along the same lines as our other broadheads. I just have not come up with a worthy name. This new head will be fully triple laminated. Not just at the point but the full length of the head. It will be made of the same high carbon steel that we use for the Grizzly. The new head will also be the same hardness as our Grizzly's. With the full triple lamination and the high carbon steel it will be an incredibly tough head.
Grizzly is the single bevel version
Kodiak is the larger single bevel version of the Grizzly
Instinct is the name of our 3 blade.
In the past Grizzly made a double bevel head called Wolverine. I do not want to use that name because I still have the dies and steel to produce the wolverine and I may well make them again in the future.
Anyone have any good suggestions for the name?
Panther
Arctos
'arctos' is the species name in the scientific name for the Brown Bear/Grizzly: Ursus arctos.
Grizzly mauler?
How about any of these?
Yukon
Badger
Sitka
Kenai
Denali
Grizzly II
Grizzly Talon
Polar
Jasper
Fozzie
Teddy
Yogi
:p
Razorback
Bruin
Hyena
Silverback
Silvertip (and then have them silver in color)
Looks like longbow and I were thinking along the same lines - he posted while I was still thinking
Canine.
In keeping with your previous theme:
Brown Bear (family that the grizzly and Kodiak are part of)
Black Bear
Best wishes with the next step in your product line!
Daryl
Ursa Major after the constellation "the great bear"
Kermode (Spirit Bear)
Muskwa (bear in Cree language)
"3" bears
Timber Wolf
Panther
Puma
Catamount
What the hobbs....
"Siberian" (Grizzly) because it's a version of the original.
Sitka
Yukon
Polar bear lol
Lynx
Polar or silvertip, to continue the bear theme
Viper or black mamba
Not sure if this name has been used for a broadhead, but how about...
PREDATOR

Slicer.
Since Grizzlies, and Wolzerines are destructive with their claws how about Badger (may be taken by copyrights) or a variation "Honey badger".
"Groundhog" or something along those lines. I'm seeing diggers as in penetration.
Fang
Double Threat
Canine
I like Polar keeping the bear theme
I would like to submit Cave Bear as the name for your new head
Another vote for Black Bear
Lynx
Jackal
Puma
Badger
Wolverine
Toklat
Ursus
Puma
Wolfer
Badger
silverback
kong
bull
bison
lobo
Brown bear or polar.
Bear Claw
Mauler
You guys already said all of the good bears, so I guess I have to suggest Panda or Koala Bear.
DB Grizz. :)
Aklark - brown bear in eskimo
How about" El Oso " Spanish for The Bear, or
El Tigre
Harry
Cinnamon Grizz.
How about taking the scientific name a little further and going with Arctodus which is the scientific name for the deadliest bear of all time, the short faced bear.
Cougar
Orca
Rogue
Whatever the name it's gonna be a great penetrating, tuff, broadhead for sure! How about naming it "the boar, wild boar or razorback". It should be the ticket for a big old mud caked swamp rhino!
Just call it GROWL.
How about doing something completely different, like...
Death-on-a-stick or Deer-sicle? :biglaugh:
I agree with longbow fanatic-- Bruin
Im a big fan of Kenai suggested on page 1. ( I may be biased growing up there though)
Zipper right through 'em.
Grizzly Triple Lam
Ok if you don't like Canine, how about Nanook, pronounced naah-nuck, Eskimo for polar bear.
Ol' Ephraim
Grizzly D.B.
I like Panther too
Grizzly II
Polar and silvertip are good too
Tripple Grizz.
Zipper Tipper
Polar was my first thought when I read Bill's post, but it just doesn't sound right without adding bear to it.
Keeping that in mind, chinook907's idea of Nanook works for me.
"Grizzly Claw"
"Smokey Bear"
Mama Bear
Papa Bear
Baby Bear
:knothead:
One more " Fuzzy Wazzy" was a Bear!

Why not just call it the Zipper?
Bruin!!
How bout Kuruk it is Pawnee for bear.
Grizzly Claw
Posted before I saw K. Henderson's proposal. Great minds think alike Mr. Henderson? Ha-Ha!
I'd call it a black bear or brown bear head.
Bruinizer
Grizzly Autonomic Nervous system destroyer LOL You can call it the Grizzly Adam for short ha.
Seriously though, How about Grizzly Fisher. Kind of a play on words but the fisher is still a voracious critter.
Nanook is nice guys but ABS already has a head called the Nanook, just thought I'd mention it. Not that that really matters I guess.
Name em after the dog. Moe Broadheads. Lol.
The Hammer!
How about;
Steel Beast
Brutal claw
Steel Savagery
Mauler
Grizzly TL (triple lam)
Grizzly DB (double bev)
Silvertip
Super Grizzly
Alaskan DB
Yukon DB
Cutter
Cougar
Carnivore
Talon Swift
Bruin Tri-Edge
Predator III
Bearcat
Death Moan.
Joe is the man.I like Silver tip
"Hard Head"
Gila monster
homebru
From the above I vote for Silvertip, Bruin or Timber Wolf.
Double Grizz
Brawdhayud
Grizzly Interior
Wookie
Flat bastard
Tatonka
Ewok
Cousin It
Bull dog
Shank
Raamattu-Finnish for Bible-the two edged sword-or maybe something like that.
Yep I second double griz
with all of these super tough sounding names maybe take it in the opposite direction.
The kitten
Justin Bieber
The Vegan
Interceptor
Mike, That's funny.... no animal will be afraid of the Justin Bieber BHs they couldn't possibly hurt anyone, except they might stupid you to death with dumb talk or speeding away from paparazzi lol.
WOW Nearly 6 pages of suggestions already. Thank you guys! Maybe in a few days I should pick some favorites and do the random draw thing or a poll and let you guys decide. So far I have a few definite favorites from your suggestions.
Horribles is sub-species of Grizzly.
The grizzly is a "Keystone" species. A species that has a disproportional effect on the environment which it inhabits.
Horriblis
Keystone
2-Bear (double bevel grizzly)
Grizzly Twin or Twin-Grizzly (double trouble!)
I also like Silvertip suggested above, except that it is also a might fine bow (but so are the Grizzly and Kodiak).
Oso Grande
start using dio names: T-rex, raptor, or shark : Mako ,great white
Lady Frost's suggestion reminded me of another two bladed sword that might be a cool broad head name = "Excalibur", King Arthur's sword given to him by Merlin.
Wolverine
Big "Boar"
Bruin
Kleen Kill
Double bevel?...."Double Trouble".....?
"The Zipper Ripper"
"The Zipper Persecutor"
"The Zipper Hibernator"
Silverback
Bruin
Polar
Badger
Timberwolf
Woodsman
Trapper
Explorer
Heritage
Schafer (Paul Schafer)
T-A Broadhead = Total Annihilation
"Sloth"
"Sow"
"Cub
"Ferocious" or "Furocious"!
Lil'Delta.......
Id just call it a double bevel grizzly. No confusion.
I like the Double Bevell Grizzly best. KISS.
Or, "Grizzly DB"
I like the suggestions along the lines of
Double bevel Grizz
Grizzly DB
Grizzly DB (My favorite)
Karnage
Or is that name already taken?
How about "grizzly Brute"
Hyper, short for hyperphagia, because all it wants to do is eat!
If you think you'll continue to introduce more styles, perhaps start a "Legends" series, "Ishi", Maurice, Pope, Young, etc...
Glacier Bear
Also you could call it the Boar or some variation, since a male bear is referred to as such. That would curry favor with the pig hunters as well.
Grizzly for the single bevel
Grizzly DB for the double bevel.
saber tooth
How about the Grizzly Boar?
Erie
Kickapoo Miami
Seneca
Wyandot
Shawnee
All are Ohio tribes
The widow maker..
Bruin
Nanuk(Inuit for polar bear)
To keep it simple, "Grizzly DB", for a total departure, "Lobo", because the triple laminated head stands alone.
"The Grizzly Hibernator"
double + bevel = Devel the new grizzly double bevel, meet the Devel. Pretty catchy tagline dont ya think?
could call the different weights
150 grn = deer Devel
175 grn = elk Devel
200 grn = moose Devel
300 grn = Bison Devel
I wanna pack of them Devel heads please!
Revenant
rev·e·nant
ˈrevəˌnäN,-nənt/Submit
noun
a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead.
Anybody say Bearcat yet?
bad jo
Ursus
Thanks guys. It is coming time to make a final decision on this. Maybe we will pick a few of our favorites. Then do a pole and let you guys have the final say.
Personally I was just going to go with Grizzly DB but I have been vetoed on that one. I can see me answering the same question several thousand times next year. "What is the difference between the Grizzly and the Grizzly DB?"
How about Atlas...type of extinct brown bear from the mountains of Africa.
While I was guiding in Alaska, we simply called all browns and griz "growlers".
Baloo? Or is he too nice of a bear?
Grizzly DB has a lot going for it. It rides on the great reputation of all the Grizzly heads, but yet it distinguishes it from the single bevel. The customer knows they are getting a great broadhead but with the double bevel feature. It has a continuity to it. If your naming gets to far off theme it's almost like you are having to launch a whole new and as yet unproven broadhead.

:biglaugh:
IDK Bill, it seems as if picking a name is too tough, may as well scrap the whole project. ;) :p
who knows, it could save you from having to answer a bunch of questions :readit: :biglaugh:
THE HIBERNATOR!!!!!!!!!
Polar
Polar
HEY I second Newhouse 114 ,,that was a great name you came up with great idea 114 ,,i too like GROWLER .
How about trinity. See if you could use some reference to the spaghetti western from the double beveled like the links with left and right hands of the devil from the movie. Add in your name as the trinity and third representing the third layer. You know three layers tough, your brand along with the right and left hands of the devil.
Trinity... get ready to say a prayer
Not in line with the bear team, but a lot of people remember the old tough guy westerns from our youth

I like that one
Trump patriot head!! Nothing tougher!
How about... The Thompson? In honor of Bob.

Jeepers, I like this! Not to derail a great suggestion but wouldn't it be rather unique to see Bill produce a limited Zipper bow named "The Thompson"? All credit to warden415 for a great name idea.
Lucifer - its a helluva broadhead.
Silverback
I call my homemade trade points mean streaks after a loud mouthed rookie donated his mean streaks(tenderloins)he got told they would spoil all the meat unless removed and eaten immediately.still laugh every time I think about it.
