Well hunting has been a little slow here at home, but I had booked an exotic hunt a couple moths ago. It started Friday evening, and about 30 minutes into my first sit, I had a group of Fallow does come in. I had to wait a little bit for them to get into range, and they were a little spooky, but finally the biggest one gave me a broadside shot at 16 yards. I was able to connect, and within just a few minutes after the shot I had my hands on my first traditional archery kill other than a couple squirrels!! Saturday evening I managed to miss a pig, just got in a hurry and didn't pick a spot and shot right over the top of it. Anyway, it was a great hunt and I couldn't be more happy!! Got her with my Maddog Mountaineer and a VPA 200 grain 3 blade.

Excellent...congrats!
Very cool! Man look at the nice light coat those fallow deer have!
Still have that yearning to pursue fallow.
Nice. Well done.
We have plenty of fallow here in Australia. They are pretty adaptable creatures, are they not worried about them getting away and starting a feral population? I wonder if they would hybridize with your whitetails? Interesting stuff.
Congrats on the Fallow.

That's cool! Congrats!! Is a doe an option/ choice. Or do you have to apply for those types of game?

Here in Texas exotics aren't considered game animals, because they aren't native. But they are everywhere here, free range and on ranches. There are places in the hill country where you see them just driving through towns even. But since they aren't native they can be hunted year round, pretty much no restrictions.

I'm not 100% sure how that works. They free range over much of the state, even though they aren't native here. Axis, fallow, sika deer, etc. I don't know if they'd breed with whitetails or not.
