Title: cotton hunting shirt
Post by: wvboy on October 05, 2016, 07:34:00 AM
Where can i find a 100% cotton, lightweight pullover shirt for early season hunting?  I'm not picky about camo patterns, but I want to avoid synthetic materials.  any suggestions?

Why not look at button up dress shirts or light weight flannels?  I frequently hunt in plaid dress shirts in the summer time and flannel shirts in the fall/spring.  I really only bust out the camo when it starts to get a little on the chilly side or when there is some weather concerns and I'm looking to take advantage of wind-blocking or water resistant technologies.

My wife even makes fun of me occasionally because I won't buy a dress shirt that I can't go hunting in.  She says I don't wear many colors.  In my mind I have tons of browns, oranges, greens, greys, reds, etc.  All look right at home in the woods, office, or church.

Most of the cheaper camo long-sleeve t-shirts you find at Wal-Mart, Dick's, Academy, etc. are still 100% cotton.

i have lightweight flannels for cooler weather, but when it's in the upper 70's i'd rather have a light tee shirt.  i'll check wally world and dicks.  thanks!

In early season I wear some cheap khaki military surplus cotton tee shirts that I tie-dyed with a bleach solution to help break up the solid color.  PS -I won't shop at Dicks because of their recent anti gun position.  A slap in the face to hunters.

I have a handful made by Day One in Colorado.  They are well made, lasted many years and as far as I know were made right there in Colorado.  Mot the cheapest, but not the highest either !

I wear a Filson moleskin shirt early season. It is a little warm when it's 70.....but when the sun drops below the trees things cool off quick.

i'll second that. the only cotton camo i have left is a long sleeve tee from Predator.

i wear it the first couple of weeks when it's still too hot for even the lightest wool.

i actually went to the website, and you are right. they must have phased out the cotton ones in favor of synthetics. sorry to see that.
